My Decision to Pursue an MBA Degree
Getting an MBA degree has always been my goal after finishing my first degree in Business Administration. MBA degree will help me in clarifying my strengths; therefore, giving me the opportunity to focus more. I also believe that people that have their MBA degree make more money than those with first degree in the long run. Being in MBA program opens up opportunities to network with fellow students, which may eventually land one a very good job opportunity. An MBA degree holder is always been looked at as someone who is experienced and skilled in their chosen profession; therefore, commanding more respect from others.
Having done my Jungian 16-type personality assessment, my personality result is ENTP. ENTP means: Extrovert, Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving. A person with “ENTP personality is innovative, individualistic, versatile, and entrepreneurial. Possible career as politician, strategic planner, literary agent, publicist, entrepreneur, investment broker, computer analyst and ad executive.” (Personality Inventory, 1989). This assessment gives me clearer vision of what I may likely pursue in my MBA program. I always see myself as an entrepreneur based on my personality; entrepreneurial, innovative and someone who likes to help the public. Based on my Jungian 16-type personality result, I will develop my interests and skills towards my personality type, so as to benefit from my potentials. Aside from the above mentioned points, MBA degree holder makes more money than those with lower qualifications in their life time. According to a business article, “there's strong evidence that earning an executive MBA can boost your career. Last year, 43% of students enrolled in executive MBA programs received promotions, up from 34% in 2004, according to the Executive MBA Council, a non-profit schools association in Orange, Calif.…...

...Board of Directors, I do believe with all my heart and soul that education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the course of our young nation to a better and brighter future. It is quite a disappointment to witness that more Marshallese students have stopped dreaming big. As I am writing this statement I’m witnessing Marshallese students graduating from American High Schools with close to zero interest of dreaming on going to college and getting a Bachelor, a Master degree, or even a Doctorate degree. I believe dreaming big and finishing college are an irreplaceable part of our lives, and the role that good education plays on the personal growth of our young citizens and the future growth of our small country, is a remarkable one. I am writing to you to let you know that I am one of those Marshallese out there who still has a burning desire after graduating four-year college to continue on and earn a Master degree in Business Administration. I have been accepted to Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University. I am confident that I will make it, but I will need the full financial support of your board of directors if I am going to get an MBA. Like Benjamin Franklin once said ‘An Investment in knowledge pays the best interest’. I can guarantee the Marshall Islands board of directors that once I get my MBA I will be back and be an asset to our country. I have done it before with my undergraduate degree and you can bid I will do it......

Why I Decided to Obtain an Mba

...Decision to Obtain an MBA MGT/521 October 12, 2012 Abstract According to CBS Money Watch (2007) as it pertains to an MBA Degree, “ When it comes to the practical value of the degree, the once-lonely voices of dissent have, in recent years, grown into a chorus of criticism. Among their accusations: The degree is over-hyped, MBA curricula are out of touch with real-world demands, and many programs have a culture that turns a blind eye to cheating. If the business world starts paying attention to these naysayers, that $100,000 tuition or the decision to pay big bucks to hire an MBA may start looking like less of a sound investment.” Decision to Obtain an MBA The decision for an individual to obtain his/her MBA can be both personal and professional. There are many negative connotations regarding the pursuit of an MBA. There are questions regarding whether or not it increases the pay range of an individual with an MBA vs. those individuals without an MBA. According to Brewer and Brewer (2012) “In a study involving MBA students, Simmering and Wilcox (1995) identified five factors that largely influence the decision to pursue the MBA graduate degree. These factors center around the personal prestige associated with the MBA, career exploration opportunities, goals for developing and improving interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial aspirations, and increasing career mobility.” The “[Graduate Management Admission Council]......

Why an Mba

...Why an MBA University of Phoenix MGT/521 May 31, 2010 I could not decide if I wanted to go after my Master’s in Business Administration, or just stop at my bachelor’s degree. It took me 26 years to decide to go back to school to pursue my AA in Accounting, despite all the pressures, and pushing that I had received from my parents and my family members. So in 2006 I decided that it was time, I looked around to a variety of different colleges and decided that I wanted to attend University of Phoenix Online because I did not want to deal with going to classes, instead I preferred to stay home and be comfortable. After my associates in accounting I decided that because I could still not find a permanent job, I would go ahead and pursue my bachelors of arts in accounting as well. When I was in my last class of my bachelor’s degree, I was toying around with going after my master’s in business administration, and then what will I specialize in. I had been looking for jobs for quite some times on the Internet and in the papers for quite some time and have been sending out hundreds of resumes and have received no responses. I figured that if I went for a master’s degree it would open many more doors in the future. It was a tough decision on whether I wanted to pursue that master’s in business, after all I had been going to school now for the past four years, or if I should just stop at my bachelor’s degree and look for a job. It turned out that finding a job was not working......

Why I Got My Mba

...Week 2 Individual Paper I decided to get my MBA for several reason. I wanted to set an example for my kids, for my own personal goals, and I want to be a dean to a college one day. I plan on getting my PHD in education. I am determined to reach my goals. “Etymologically the word education contains educare (Latin) "bring up", which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere, "to lead". (Etymonline.com). Getting my MBA will only bring out my full potential. I will be more knowledgeable, and knowledge is power. I am a single mother of three. “Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). I want my kids to see me working, getting my degree, and taking care of them. As I quoted “…transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). What I do will transmit to them. I want them to know that it can be done. There is nothing they can not achieve if they really want it. When my kids reach the college level, there will no excuse big enough for them not to complete college. I am leading by example. I was attacked in my home in 2008. My kids and myself were sleeping when a man came in an attacked......

Pursue an Mba Degree

...Decision to Pursue an MBA Degree Decision to pursue MBA Program is a first step to reach my personal goal and start a new career. After my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science I was offered a job as IT Administrator to a well-known organization and never had an opportunity to think about further education. The decision to obtain an MBA requires a substantial commitment of money and time. However, there are many compelling reasons to pursue an MBA to get ahead in the business world. Below are some of the lines of reasoning that I want to mention: MBAs are internationally recognized Travel to many areas of the world, and most people have at least heard of the graduate degree known as the MBA. This makes it much more valuable than many other business degrees. For example, even though a Master's in Commerce may be a prestigious degree in some countries; other locations may not be familiar with the program. Having an MBA, which is recognized almost universally, will increase my ability to compete for jobs in more locations. MBAs can earn higher salaries One of the major reasons, as I have chosen to pursue an MBA is that it often allows graduates to earn a greater salary. Although the average starting salary for MBA graduates is influenced by the number of years of work experience they have prior to starting their degree, even those with fewer than three years of industry experience reportedly start out earning close to $70,000. This figure rises dramatically as......

Additionally, individuals with an MBA who decide to work in the IT sector, like me, or in such sectors such as investment banking or consulting firms can expect to earn higher base salaries than MBA holders working in other industries. “In 2007-2008, At the master’s degree level, the greatest number of degrees were conferred in the fields of education (176,000) and business (156,000) (U.S. Department of Education, 2007-2008). Why I Decided to Get an Mba Degree

...Fansler MBA: Why I decided to get an MBA degree Receiving my Undergraduate degree was one of my most proud moments in my life, I felt a since of accomplishment, responsibility, and acceptance. I just knew I was going to now be able to provide better for my family. That is why everyone around me said goes to college. Finish and graduate. A college degree can only help you and not hurt you. Well that statement can be a bit misleading, while yes a college degree won’t hurt you, it didn’t help me much either. I got into a situation that I had the degree but lacked the experience. Why didn’t anybody tell me to work as well? Get an internship? A mentor? I guess everyone had the misconception that college degrees grantee a good paying job; however, sometimes it’s not the case. I have come to say continuing education, even well beyond an undergrad, will not only help your career situation, but set a standard for your family and or kids, to always continue learning. Objection: An MBA will not guarantee a good job. It won’t guarantee a job, but what does? Having an MBA has put me more marketable with employers. Bryan Cohen argues that “First-year accountants with an associate degree made an average of $33,300 per year, while those with an MBA earned $39,800 per year as of April 2011 (Cohen, 2001). MBA open a world of big possibilities in a career field., The reason I decided, why not get my degree, is because I know it will pay off in the long run, when I want to pursue......

...Why I Chose to Pursue an MBA Abstract This paper will outline the reasons I chose to pursue an MBA. I will construct and support an argument for my pursuit of an MBA. I will support my decision of pursing an MBA with references and data of individuals who have written articles regarding the pursuit of an MBA for African Americans. This paper will include my Jungian results from the 16-Type Personality Insights questionnaire to see if I have the qualifications of a manager. Why I Chose to Pursue an MBA I decided to pursue an MBA to start a new career and to achieve a personal goal. I have a best friend who persuaded me to further my education. She would tell me, “Seles, this world is going to require that individuals who seek employment have a Master’s degree.” I began to think how my goal would be achieved and what university I attend. Wondering and worrying about the cost of this type of education caused me to have many sleepless nights and much stress. My concern was finding the time between allocating times with my six year-old son, working part-time as a volunteer and taking care/assisting my parents who are 70. Also my biggest issue I had was who would hire a recent graduate who is almost 50, African-American single parent of a six year-old son and who have never worked in the corporate world. So I prayed and asked GOD to authorize my pursuit of a Master’s degree. I talked with my advisor Lance Thorsen and he eased my mind and encouraged me......
