The Beginning to Jazz

...The Beginning to Jazz Jazz History MUS 205 Three styles of music that contributed to what Jazz is today would be Work Songs, Country Blues, and City Blues. They have similar aspects that have built on one another making them familiar yet has enhanced them. They also have many differences that give them their unique sound. These styles have inspired artist to contribute to Jazz with their own flair. Their culture and back ground is what makes the music have the sole to reach the audience in ways they can relate. They have seen and felt the same tribulations the artist portrays. Work songs through their hypnotic rhythms were effectively used to have the workers keep pace. These work songs helped to coordinate single thrusts or pulls, yet the vocals were kept simple as to allow the laborers to concentrate on the work. The singer would use heavy rhythmic accents and the workers would join in with shouts at regular intervals throughout the song. This technique was called the call-response, the shouts or grunts signaled the moment of coordinated effort in their work. The structure of a work song was simpler than the 12 measure blues progression. When accompanied by instruments, it was usually a guitar accompaniment that was deceptively complex. The work song usually told a simple yet familiar story. The blues is single-handedly the root of jazz. Without the blues there would be no jazz as we know it today. About the same time the work song was in use, country blues was gaining......

The Beginning Daycare

...The Beginning Daycare / All In One Alberta Barksdale It is a joy to play a role in a child’s growth and development as they explore life and the world around them. We need information in order to introduce products and services that create value in the mind of the customer. But the perception of value is a subjective one and what customer’s value this year may be quite different from what they value next year. Child care is evolving, and most care providers and parents agree the changes are for the best. That’s why my daycare center will offer the parents one stop services at a affordable price. Most parents are taking a careful look at child care costs, and decisions to reduce hours or even pull their kids out of organized programs entirely due to job losses or expenses are affecting child care providers as well. As a result, we are offering flexible hours, keeping rates the same or even reducing them in some cases, and working out pay arrangements for struggling families to encourage families to stay. Special programs or fees are also being scrutinized as we scramble to find ways to lessen costs while maintaining a quality care program for kids. No longer is child care for young children simply babysitting. Child care centers have mostly transitioned to centers for early education, where young tots are involved with early learning. The trend to learning centers is partly due to high parent and school expectations; it's also attributable to research that shows that......

The Beginning of Christianity

...THE BEGINNING OF CHRISTIANITY, HOW IT BEGAN AND HOW IT SPREAD Mary Kate Godwin Western Civilization Everette Lewis June 11, 2011 THE BEGINNING OF CHRISTIANITY, HOW IT BEGAN AND HOW IT SPREAD Christianity began as a break off from Judaism. The name “Christianity” comes from the word “Christ,” which means, “anointed one”. Christians believe that the anointed one was the Jesus of Nazareth. The word “Christian” was first mentioned in the Bible in the book of Acts. This type of faith was founded in the middle of the first century. The origination of Christianity was the teachings and life of Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus was born in 4 B.C. in Palestine, which was a province of the Roman Empire. Around the time of Jesus birth, there was political instability, diseases, poverty and famine. The emperor of Rome ruled in harsh ways. “Jesus was a Jew. He observed the Jewish faith and was well acquainted with the Jewish Law.”1 The Jews hated the Romans rule. Often times, Jews were punished by the Romans for their uprisings. Many Jews grew tired of this harsh punishment, and gave up. They began to conform to the Roman rule. Others even withdrew and went into the wilderness to study the laws. All of the Jews were frustrated and looking for the promised Messiah and for God to destroy their enemies. According to scripture, Jesus began teaching in his late twenties. Jesus began his ministry by traveling from village to village performing healings to those who......

The Beginning

...In the beginning God create the heavens and the earth. At the time the earth was like a void, darkness everywhere consuming the planet, and God said four words, “and let there be light.” Then there on that planet earth God separated light from dark. He blessed the light and called the light day, and he cursed the dark and called it night. The second day has arrived. God then said the waters from waters, and called to the expansion of heaven. The third day came. God wanted to fill the gap in the water, so God created dry land, and made the gathered water seas. Now he said there should be vegetation on the earth. The third day has passed. God said let there is the expansion of time telling from the seasons, and let there be light at night call it stars. The fourth day has passed. God then created every living creature to roam the earth, and blessed the bird. The fifth day has passed. God said I must make man I will make man in my own image of me, and blessed these creatures. The sixth day has passed. On the day of Creation God rested. God made a deal with man everything you see on earth is yours, for this is Eve’s garden. You may take any fruit, except the tree of knowing good and evil. If you eat the tree of knowing of good from evil you will surely die. Later the serpent temps Eve to go and eat the forbidden apple. At first she said no put in the serpents crafty ways, he convinced Eve into eating the apple. Not only was he able to trick Eve but also he made Eve convince......

Seo Beginnings

...Way back in the late 1990’s, search engines used to rank websites (more specifically individual pages) based largely on keyword density. The closer you managed to get your web page to the ideal keyword density at the time, the better your rankings became. If, for arguments sake, Google was looking for an average keyword density of 5%, then you simply needed to get your page as close to that density as possible for the keyword term you were trying to target. So if your page contained 100 words, 5 of those words should’ve been the keyword term you wished to rank for. Webmasters quickly learned that all they needed to do to manipulate their rankings was to change the keyword density of their pages. As an example, they could simply increase (or decrease) the amount of times the term “dog training advice” appeared in their pages to improve it’s relative importance, and therefore ranking in Google. Those sure were the days. It was easy. However this presented a major problem. It put the control and influence of search engine results in the hands of webmasters. The more webmasters that realized and took advantage of this, the more the search engines became filled with poor quality and “less relevant” search results. As the knowledge spread it also saw the emergence of the highly aggressive “blackhat” search engine tricks and large (almost industrial) scale search engine spamming and manipulation. In its very earliest and simplest form it included “keyword stuffing”...

A couple of mouth before I left the organization, there were rumours that a new CEO was coming along and was planning for a big change. “A transformation could be in the works for Second Cup Ltd. with the hiring of new CEO Alix Box, who brings a marketing and retail pedigree to the coffee chain from executive roles at Holt Renfrew and Starbucks2.” Managers were shaken up by this change for two reasons: Alix came from Starbucks which is Second Cups direct competitor and because she had already started firing people from hire levels of the organization. “For the past six years, Alix has been a member of the senior leadership team at Holt Renfrew, most recently as Senior Vice President, Retail.  During this period, she helped lead a......

New Beginning

...of mystery and the condescending of darkness as the reader continues to read. The syntax of sentence structure is short and to the point in Achebe’s view of Africa. Compared to Conrad’s, he talks about one problem and takes the whole paragraph to describe what is going on. Detail, however, in Achebe’s paragraphs are just the right amount. They do display it’s view of what’s going on pretty well. In the first paragraph of Achebe’s, “The sun rose slowly to the center of the sky, and the dry, sandy footway began to throw up the heat that lay buried in it.” She does give a good view of what’s going on in the beginning of the paragraph and spends in decent amount of detail. Compared to Conrad’s first paragraph, he does give a place to where and what he is doing but gives the little detail about what’s going on. “Going up that river was like traveling back to the earliest beginnings of the world.” He mentions going up the river but hardly explained where he’s at and the area in which surrounds him. In conclusion, Achebe has a better view when talking about organizations, syntax, and details to what is going on....

A New Beginning

...A New Beginning As many can tell you, life for a minority in the 1950’s was rough considering the strides that had been taken in the name of human and civil rights until that point. Slavery had long ended yet segregation was still common practice in various parts of the United States. Although every American is promised life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it’s apparent how life can be different based on subtle differences from person to person. A Raisin in the Sun gives us a slight glimpse into what life could have been like for a black family during those times. The family in question is the Youngers. They are a small, close knit group who all want to find some sense of security in an unfair world. Lena, Walter, Beneatha and Ruth Younger all have a dream as to how they can escape the life of poverty that they have been living yet it still comes at a significant cost with the death of the patriarch, Mr. Younger. The Youngers are all waiting for his life insurance check of $10,000 to arrive while each member of the family has an idea of how they would like to spend the money. Lena, the matriarch, would like to use the money as a down payment on a house so that her family may have a fresh, new dignified start. The apartment they have been living in is cramped, worn and dark with no room to grow for their expanding family just like Lena’s house plant that receives just enough light and energy to stay alive despite the conditions facing it. Walter, Lena’s son, on the......

New Beginning

...By Ayesha Ali Khan A toast to a new beginning Growing up in suburban Lahore, New Year’s eves used to be a quiet event. Yet excitement for the New Year was evident in the spirit of every child and adult. New Year’s Eve was the celebration of a new beginning. Something to be jubilant about. It was a time for a simple gesture of wishing health and wealth to all, and the best that life could give to all. Indeed, the New Year promised a bright future. Even today, the charm of the New Year’s Eve continues to thrill. Despite the face paced life, it offers a chance for friends and family to come together and celebrate a joyous occasion. It is a new hope harbored into an old fashioned cheer. It is here, as the clock approaches midnight that spirits are rekindled. However, standing united, facing a new beginning, my peers do stop for a moment and remember the past floating by. True, the year 2009 saw numerous challenges, many battles and much heartache. The economy painted a bleak picture. The woes of a common man mounted to new levels. Our land was in constant grip of terror. We lost many fellow countrymen as brave martyrs of terrorism. Indeed 2009 was a difficult year. It made the transition to 2010 a solemn attempt. But that’s the beauty of a New Year. A moment artificial yet so profound. It brings a new dawn. It is a chance to redeem oneself. It offers a brand new path to success. It is an opportunity to rise above and make a difference. A new year brings with it the......

Beginning of Life

...over ~50 Myr via planetesimal accretion Earth differentiation: The iron "drops" follow gravity and accumulate towards the core. Lighter materials, such as silicate minerals, migrate upwards in exchange. These silicate-rich materials may well have risen to the surface in molten form, giving rise to an initial magma ocean Early Earth heats up due to radioactive decay, compression, and impacts. Over time the temperature of the planet interior rises towards the Femelting line. After the initial segregation into a central iron (+nickel) core and an outer silicate shell, further differentiation occurred into an inner (solid) and outer (liquid) core (a pressure effect: solid iron is more densely packed than liquid iron), the mantel (Fe+Mg silicates) and the crust (K+Na silicates). Initially large portions of the crust might have been molten - the so called magma ocean. The latter would have cooled to form a layer of basaltic crust (such as is present beneath the oceans today). Continental crust would have formed later. It is probable that the Earth’s initial crust was remelted several times due to impacts with large asteroids. The formation of Earth: Delivery of water by icy planetesimals and comets? After condensation of water vapor produced the earth's oceans, thus sweeping out the carbon dioxide and locking it up into rocks, our atmosphere was mostly nitrogen. Kaboom! The formation of the Moon: Currently favored hypothesis: Earth has a gigantic grazing collision with a......

The Beginning of Time

...Frank Bruno Auditing 1:00-2:15 Enron Case Due 2/10/05 1. What is auditor independence and what is its significance to the audit profession? What is the difference between independence in appearance and independence in fact? Auditor independence involves the auditor and the company being audited. It requires them to maintain separate business and personal relations. This is imperative because personal feelings can hinder the ability of an auditor to perform the required tasks. Expectations and assumptions can result from this as well. It is expected from an auditor that they be independent and unbiased. This is imperative when they are dealing with the financial statements because it is extremely important that they be impartial during the audit, which means that personal relations and former employees with strong relationships with there former employers would not concede to these standards. Independence in appearance is avoiding financial and managerial relationships with clients; this is necessary because this is the only portion that the public can actually see. The general public will only grant social recognition of professional status to auditors when they are perceived as independent. Independence in fact to the contrary from appearance is the ability for an auditor to remain unbiased during an audit of financials. Independence is the first aspect of an audit that the public sees. Although all stages of an audit are of equal importance, it is the......

In the Beginning Is the Word

...“In the beginning was the word… and the word was made flesh.” St. Augustine said that without these two key sentences the gospel of St. John is an enigma,’ He wrote, not so much to convert as to confirm the belief of those who believed that you may keep on believing.’ These book ‘is a work of John when he was already old and constantly a final testimony from the apostolic period. The earliest witness of the authorship of the gospel was Ireneus of Lyons, he tells us that it was produced in the Ephesus by John the apostle. ’ Without these Gospel we will miss many important and detailed events, about the life of Jesus as a pure man and a pure God. As I had read the Bilble, I got confused on who’s the john that in the first chapter. But with the thanks to the movie about the Gospel of John it answered my question. My fellow brother, who had brought and read his Good News Bible as the movie began. He was amazed. As he read the Gospel of St. John, he noticed that every word that was in the bible was precisely narrated in the movie. As I searched in the Google I confirmed on what told before, it was true. It says that ‘The Gospel of John is a 2003 film that is the story of Jesus' life as recounted by the Gospel of John. It is a motion picture that has been adapted for the screen on a word-for-word basis from the American Bible Society's Good News Bible. This three-hour epic feature film follows John's Gospel precisely, without additions to the story from other Gospels, or......
