...DRIVERS OF GLOBALIZATION PROCESS The key factors seem to underlie the trend towards the increasing globalization of markets and production: 1. The decline of barriers to trade and investment: Decline in Trade barriers: Many of the barriers to international trade took the form of high tariffs on imports of manufactured goods. However, this depressed world demand and contributed to the great depression of the 1930’s. After World War II, the industrialized countries of the West started a process of removing barriers to the free flow of goods, services, and capital between nations. Under GATT, over 140 nations negotiated even further to decrease tariffs and made significant progress on a number of non-tariff issues (e.g. intellectual property, trade in services). The most recent round of negotiations known as Uruguay round was competed in December 1993. The Uruguay round further reduced trade barriers, covering services as well as manufactured goods provided enhanced protection for patents, trade marks and copyrights and established WTO to police the international trading system. With the establishment of the WTO, a mechanism now exists for dispute resolution and the enforcement of trade laws. Average tariff rates have fallen significantly since 1950’s, and under the Uruguay agreement, they have approached 3.9 % by 2000. This removal of barriers to trade has taken place in conjunction with increased trade, world output, and foreign direct investment. Decline in......

Drivers

...Drivers Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics. When driving on the road, one can experience several different kinds of drivers which can be divided into three major categories: bad drivers, good drivers and ugly drivers. Most drivers want to reach their destination as fast as they can. However, not all drivers get there the same way. How they get there depends on which category they fall into. First of all, the bad drivers can be described as the morning mad-honker. These drivers are only experienced in a busy town in the morning. They are characterized by hollering, blowing of the horn, and anger. It is believed that their anger is derived from their procrastination in the morning as they prepare for work. Because they typically run late, they tend to speed and often cut off other drivers in the mornings. They can be observed swerving in and out of lanes in order to get back the time they wasted. In bumper to bumper traffic, they often honk and yell, as if these noises will make the vehicles in front of them move faster. People are not accepting of these kind of drivers because they believe that these bad drivers could cause a possible car accident. Secondly, in contrast to bad drivers are good drivers, who make up the majority of drivers. These drivers can be seen in all places. Because they always obey all the driving laws, they will get to their destination with the least amount of trouble. For example, a good driver is usually......

...Driver’s License at 14 Proposal: The new law for the year of 2015 is, being able to get your driver’s license at the age of 14. Rationale: Getting your driver’s license at 14 years of age will be helpful for a lot of teenagers because it will be easier for them to get to work by the time their 15 years old. If they get their G1 at 14 they will have their G2 by the age of 15 so, they don’t have to worry about getting their parents or guardians in the vehicle with them to go to work. By the age of 15, you have to have their own motorized vehicle. By making gas a lot cheaper (60 cents) it will be easier for teenagers to get gas for their vehicles to get to and from their jobs. It also should be cheaper because it will be easier for teenagers to get gas on a minimum wage payment. They cannot have children 10 and younger in the vehicle until you get your full G license at the age of 16. If you are pulled over without your license on you more than two times, you will get charged. The first two times you will be allowed to carry on with your day. It is illegal to drink alcohol in that whole day you are planning to drive, not even one glass of wine until you get your full G. Support and Non-Support: The government and local teens will support our idea. They will support this idea because, the government will think this is a great idea for future jobs 14 year olds will plan on getting when their 15 and teenagers will also think this is great so they don’t have to worry...

...also worked the night-shift at a local factory, in the Fisher Body Parts division making power window and door lock switches and cruise control devices. There, leaders used Blake’s and Mouton’s grid to assess the resources necessary to achieve increased productivity. The focus was on piece work and although we were paid by the hour, specific productivity standards were set in place; employees were just another cog in the gears of the manufacturing wheel. While exploring the Illinois U.S. Senate race in 2009, I revisited my childhood employer to discuss my past connection and current manufacturing trends. To my surprise, much had changed. The president said that the organization no longer focused on productivity as the primary organizational driver. Leader Member Exchange (LMX) Rocky Hendrickson a longtime business acquaintance, founder and president of Hallmark Automotive Group in Middle Tennessee once told me that,” the key to getting things done is to establish a tension of reciprocity.” In other words, he meant that when you do something for people, create an unspoken “tension” or compelling feeling to repay the act. Politicians and lobbyists are masters at manipulating “tension” and my father, a prominent labor leader, lived by it. When I was young, he used to say, “do something for other’s jimmy, and they’ll be indebted to you. It compels loyalty, feelings of indebtedness.” Officially, Rocky’s tension of reciprocity is called leader-member exchange or LMX for short.......

...show that though the absolute number of crashed, where drivers aged over 72 are involved, is not high, this category of drivers has a high rate of incidents per mile. Moreover, the threat of fatal outcome in this category is very high. This group of researchers emphasized the medical aspect of aging. Their investigation showed that adverse events for drivers of the age group are related to cognitive impairment, low physical activity (particularly, the amount of walking per day has been examined) and foot abnormalities (like left-knee flexion). Those results are particularly interesting, as they show how risk factors can hide not only in obvious age changes, but also in those less predictable. This study also shows that there is much to discover about the issue. Among other reasons, which are associated with increased risk of crashes among senior drivers are visual field loss, visual attention, dementia, stroke, Parkinson disease, cardiac disease and other age-related disorders (Marottoli et. all). Another research, conducted in Canada showed that drivers aged over 65 have a high risk of fatal motor vehicle traffic crashes. Among risk factors the following have been indicated: medical and physical conditions, inattention and little experience, wrong actions (such as wrong turning). Authors of the research argue that preventive age-specific strategies could improve the current situation and make driving safer for senior drivers, as well as for other participants of the traffic......
