...By Mashell Chapeyama PEST analysis Pest analysis is a way in which the organization evaluates how it would fare in the environment. With PEST the organization is evaluating critical factors that affect the organization. These factors are: political, economic, socio-cultural and political. This essay is going to discuss these four factors as they affect a company named Chipinge Banana Company, which is found in Zimbabwe. It is a company that specializes in growing and selling of Bananas. These bananas are sold in the country as well as other foreign markets, particularly Asia and Middle East. Political The political system is not stable. Usually there is uncertainty in relationship to land ownership. There is a threat that some farms may be taken by government for resettlement reason. Some countries do not want to do business with Zimbabwe because it has bad human rights record. Some workers may be displayed from work due to political violence. Currently, we are going towards elections which can turn to be violent. Zimbabwe has a very high taxation system in the world. One advantage is that Zimbabwe is part of free trade agreements such as comesa. Zimbabwe has many bilateral trade agreements with many countries. This means there are some favourable conditions in that we can sell some products to countries which trade well with Zimbabwe. Yang T his note compares business environment perceptions using a unique panel data set of Afghani and Pakistani firms interviewed between 2007 and 2010. Examining the evolution of business climate perceptions within the same group of firms over time allows for a clear picture of how the broad business environment is changing. Firms in both countries are operating in a time of dynamic economic, political, and social changes. However, perceptions of the severity and challenges posed by certain business environment elements differ in the two countries. The World Bank’s Enterprise Analysis Unit surveyed the same group of 319 Afghani firms in 2008 and 2010, as well as a group of 385 Pakistani firms in 2007 and 2010. Survey results show that firm perceptions of the severity and priority of certain business environment elements have changed over time, especially in the areas of electricity, political instability, and corruption. Changes in top obstacle reporting should only be interpreted as changes in what element is currently most relevant to firms. For example, suppose a firm in Afghanistan considers electricity and corruption to be its top two concerns. In 2008, the firm selects electricity as their top obstacle because it is fundamental to daily operations. The firm acquired a generator by 2010, so......

Pest Analysis Telenore Pakistan

...Abstract: Pakistan has important strategic endowments and development potential. The country is located at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, China and the Middle East and is thus at the fulcrum of a regional market with a vast population, large and diverse resources, and untapped potential for trade. The increasing proportion of Pakistan’s working-age population provides the country with a potential demographic dividend but also with the critical challenge to provide adequate services and increase employment Economical view: Pakistan faces significant economic, governance and security challenges to achieve durable development outcomes. The persistence of conflict in the border areas and security challenges throughout the country is a reality that affects all aspects of life in Pakistan and impedes development. A range of governance and business environment indicators suggest that deep improvements in governance are needed to unleash Pakistan's growth potential Pakistan also faces significant economic challenges. The sharp rise in international oil and food prices, combined with recurring natural disasters like the 2010 and 2011 floods had a devastating impact on the economy. As Pakistan recovered from the 2008 global crisis, its gross domestic product (GDP) grew 3.8 percent in Fiscal Year 2009/2010 (FY09/10). The 2010 floods, with an estimated damage of over $10 billion, caused growth to slow down to 2.4 percent in FY10/11. The Pakistan economy grew by an......

...makes it possible to clarify the bases of remuneration. It seems to him that this type of tool would be more useful in the group than a system reinforcing the internal competition. Taking again the argumentation of Michael Smith, he explained why a system like the Hay method would be a good way of standardising elements of the HRM policy at the international level, at least for the managers and the executives. It would bring a comprehensive framework of analysis and would facilitate the changes and promotions between subsidiary companies by knowing the jobs better. The HR Managers of several international subsidiary companies supported for Daniel Landreau, and the Management Committee of the group decided, as he suggested setting up the Hay method for all the international subsidiary companies. He postponed the revision of the system of commissions of the salesmen to a later date, when he would have the results of the second year for the 15 salesmen of Saint Louis. Daniel Landreau wants you to propose a critical analysis of the situation for him. He raises in particular the following questions to which he hopes you will be able to answer: 1. How can you describe the internal context of MCC (Headquarter & French Sub.)? 2. How do you explain the wish of the American Headquarters to develop such a competitive system of remuneration? What are its advantages and its limits? 3. How could you imagine taking into account the personal situation of each......

Pest Analysis

...PEST Analysis One way of planning your business is to undertake a PEST analysis.1 PEST analysis involves looking at the Political, Economic, Socio-cultural and Technological factors that could affect your business. Every business needs to consider a range of external forces in order to take decisions. For many people imagination is very limited and is coloured solely by their own experience and personal beliefs. This can lead to wish fulfilment or a refusal to see reality or recognise the critical changes that are happening in the world around them. It can also lead to grabbing short-term solutions that, if they do not exacerbate problems, certainly ignore the longer term. In the business world pressure is often applied to take decisions quickly, acting on judgement and instinct rather than careful analysis. There are many driving forces in the external environment that might impact on your business. These can be categorised as: • Social; • Technological; • Economic; • Environmental; and • Political. Social forces Social forces include, for example, changing demography and education, etc. The population in Western Europe is relatively static, but the age bands are changing. The number of older people, for example, is growing rapidly. Technological forces Technological forces are changing dramatically quickly. What effects will this have on your production, marketing and distribution plans? Depending on your market, technology might either raise or lower entry......

...PEST analysis PEST analysis stands for "Political, Economic, Social, and Technological analysis" and describes a framework of macro-environmental factors used in the environmental scanning component of strategic management. Some analysts added Legal and rearranged the mnemonic to SLEPT;[1] inserting Environmental factors expanded it to PESTEL or PESTLE, which is popular in the United Kingdom.[2] The model has recently been further extended to STEEPLE and STEEPLED, adding Ethics and demographic factors. It is a part of the external analysis when conducting a strategic analysis or doing market research, and gives an overview of the different macroenvironmental factors that the company has to take into consideration. It is a useful strategic tool for understanding market growth or decline, business position, potential and direction for operations. The growing importance of environmental or ecological factors in the first decade of the 21st century have given rise to green business and encouraged widespread use of an updated version of the PEST framework. STEER analysis systematically considers Socio-cultural, Technological, Economic, Ecological, and Regulatory factors. Composition • Political factors are how and to what degree a government intervenes in the economy. Specifically, political factors include areas such as tax policy, labour law, environmental law, trade restrictions, tariffs, and political stability. Political factors may also include goods and services which......

...PEST Analysis for the Apple Smartphone 1) Political Environment From the political point of view Italy is an ideal country where to export our product. It has good international relationships, especially with other EU countries where we are already present and with the USA. There are no restrictions to the importation or the exportation of capitals and goods. The accounting system follows the International Accounting Standards (IAS), the same adopted by all EU countries, and quite similar to the American’s General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). There is a stable political regime with a multi-party system, which can ensure the certainty of law and the respect of contractual rights. However lawsuits tend to be lasting and expensive, and this could represent a risk in case of a contractual breach. 2) Economic Environment The Italian Economic Environment is also quite good for our project. Italian economy is based on services and industry. The per capita GDP is $30.200, that is not high as in the United States ($44.000), but which is however enough to ensure the population with the possibility to save some of their budget for the acquisition of expensive products. In addition income is better distributed than in the US: looking at the Gini Index, Italy has a 36 and US have a 45 (where 0 means equally distributed and 100 means unequally distributed). If we bear in mind the different dimensions of the two countries all the other economic indicators can be......

...taken over. Therefore telecom industry of Pakistan has been experiencing growth since last one and half years. Current government has liberalized the taxation and licensing polices in order to attract more and more foreign direct investment in the country. But this political instability can occur if the government changes and bring new policies which might not be in favor of telecom industry. Propaganda by religious forces: Telenor had to face severe criticism from the religious forces in Pakistan after the publishing of caricatures on the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). people called for the total opposition of the Norwegian based company. Public pay phones & calling cards usage where network is not available: It is a big threat to the company as it cuts down companies profits. Moreover, people can evenshift to other network who have coverage in those areas. So the company should take notice andtry to provide service in every nook and corner of the country. Formulating and implementing strategies: Once the SWOT analysis is complete the company needs to pay attention to the expansion of the business by offering a number of quality products in the market. The company needs to evaluateits growth strategy so that it can have a clear understanding of the direction towards which it isheading. The organization should concentrate on its primary line of business in order to achievesuccessful expansion. Telenor Growth Strategy The Telenor Group has a strong track record of......
