The purpose of this paper is to overview the steps implemented in creating a successful staff in the workplace. Staff planning is a team effort between the Human Resources manager and the actual department hiring manager. The Grady Memorial Hospital has steps and requirements for housekeeping positions that must be met before an applicant can be hired.

The cleanliness of a hospital is important in the health of its patients. If the hospital is dirty, a patient may catch a nosocomial infection which can cause death. A clean hospital on the other hand, can actually contribute to a patient’s health because fewer germs mean less chance of infection and a quick recovery. In order to ensure a hospital is as clean as it should be, there should be stringent training in the use of cleaning detergents and the proper way to clean. At Grady Memorial, the first step to being considered for cleaning position in the hospital is recruiting. The recruiting process is not as vigorous as most due to the number of military wives who seek employment at the base. Most of the recruiting is done by use of bulletin boards. Recruiting is also done at organized job fairs to reach potential applicants that do not have ties to the community surrounding Grady Memorial. While housekeeping is a job that requires on the job training, it does help to seek only the applicants that are able to handle the duties associated with cleaning a hospital. Screening applicants to work at Grady Memorial Hospital include background and security checks as well as general aptitude tests to ensure the applicant is able to follow simple and direct instructions from his or her supervisor. The background and security check allow the recruiters to search an applicants history for any type of terrorist, criminal, or drug related activities. Screening for prior terrorist activities is essential due to…...

Another of the oldest agencies was developed by Katharine Felton as a response to the problems brought on by the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. Many temporary agencies specialize in a particular profession or field of business, such as accounting, health care, technical, or secretarial. [edit]Legal status For most of the twentieth century, private employment agencies were considered quasi illegal entities under international law[citation needed]. The International Labour Organization instead called for the establishment of public employment agencies. To prevent the abusive practices of private agencies, they were either to be fully abolished, or tightly regulated. In most countries they are legal but regulated. Probably inspired by the dissenting judgments in a US Supreme Court case called Adams v. Tanner, the International Labour Organization's first ever Recommendation was targeted at fee charging agencies. The Unemployment Recommendation, 1919 (No.1), Art. 1 called for each member to, "take measures to prohibit the establishment of employment agencies which charge fees or which carry on their business for profit. Where such agencies already exist, it is further recommended that they be......

Staffing has often been thought of as a reactive process, in that when an employee quits or is let go, Human Resources must immediately go through the process of filling that position. ...Recruitment and Staffing Proposal Kofi Djanphie HRMN 400 Professor Smoot 9/27/15 Cover Memo TO: CEO FROM: Kofi Djanphie DATE: September 27, 2015 SUBJECT: Recruitment and Staffing The recruitment and selection process contributes significantly to the attainment of adequate personnel. In order to sustain optimal functionality within a business or to incite improvements in recommended areas, a company must be staffed with the appropriate people. “Recruitment and selection methods are particular means to develop the practices of each stage in the recruitment life-cycle and process, from sourcing candidates to the hiring decision” (Articles and News on Recruitment Methods, n.d., para. 3). Searching for and acquiring senior staff does not differentiate from the procedure that is involved with non-management candidates. They both include choosing from an array of recruitment and selection styles. Three recruitment approaches have been designated to provide HSS with the greatest opportunity to encounter the most competent individuals. Also, three selection methods were chosen to assist with the difficulties that can arise during the hiring process such as making an effective decision. Business strategy requires a cost/benefit and metrics analysis to determine areas of success and failure. An organization needs to know what worked and what did not. This ensures that ineffective practices are excluded from future proceedings that coerce the squandering of limited......

...and keep the cost to the company down. A common solution to this problem is merging your most valuable resources……….your employees. With companies experiencing high turnover with little financial resources, it is sometimes beneficial to outsource your staff. When companies outsource staff, they save money in areas such as health benefits, training, and salary. In fact, depending on the industry, often time the outsourced employee will be familiar with the industry and may need little to know training. Furthermore, the outsourced employees tend to be just as focused because they look at work as a means to end; therefore they come in and satisfy the job requirements without some of those outside influences. When permanent and temp employees work together, it helps to drive the success of the organization. The permanent employees get the desired help they need therefore relieving some of the stressors they may have been experiencing in their current position. Plus, permanent staff members can get the much needed breaks they deserve by bringing in competent individuals to perform certain task in their absence. In conclusion, I feel if temporary and permanent employees are successful integrated it would only improve the company’s overall drive. Sometimes it’s hard for companies to satisfy all of it’s need, but a great place to start is usually by hiring the right people. At my company we recently implemented this staffing plan, and it is working out great. Prior to......

The cafeteria and security functions would be outsourced to independent contractors. Below, we describe the sequence that was used to staff the hourly production positions in this new facility. Before announcing the location of the facility, MMC did some investigation of the educational characteristics of the labor force in Tennessee, as well as a review of the secondary school system in a five county area surrounding the plant site. It decided to give first priority in employment for entry level and skilled positions to residents in the five county area, then to Tennessee residents, and finally to anyone, regardless of place of residence. The VP of corporate HR took several trips to talk to state and local officials about locating the facility in the area.
