How I Spend My Time After School As an average teen, some would walk home after school and relax. How would you spend your time? Perhaps you have responsibilities that needs to be taken care of? Well that sounds like the similar situation I am dealing with in my present-day life. After school, I must tend to all of my many responsibilities. Since I have so many responsibilities, time is subtracted from my personal life and activities. Of all the responsibilities, school takes the most time every weekday. Waking up early in the morning, cleansing your body, getting dressed, and leaving on time are some of the responsibilities before school. But what happens after school? Well that’s the major responsibilities that are highly important. The in-school work is mostly based on the homework. This activity takes hard work, determination, and concentration. Depending on your work ethic you can accomplish the goal of finishing faster. Eschewing distractions is a sign of determination and will improve your concentration. By improving your concentration, you may be able to work hard. Chores are activities that are next on my list of responsibilities. Compared to homework, chores are the least time consuming responsibilities. Never the less, its still time consuming. This daily task is various in time length its also which activity I perform. My various chores consist of cleaning the backyard, feeding and distributing water to the dogs, sweeping and mopping, and cleaning the bathroom. This load would be considered slavery if there is no compensation received. Though not financially, I am paid with the labor experience and a tan. Some chores take preparation without you even noticing. For example, what would you do first if you were to wash the dishes? You would probably clean out the sink, then mixed the water and soap and start washing correct? There is a process…...

The Time I over Came My Fear

...dog, and chicken being grilled out in the backyard. As I ate my enormous hamburger, I sat still amazed at what I had accomplished that day. This was one of the best summer vacations I had spent with my cousin and it was one day that I would never forget. Beep! Beep! Beep! I opened my eyes and turned to look at the alarm 4:15 AM, just fivsse more minutes I told myself sleepily. “Come on wake up so you can eat something before you leave” yelled my mom from the kitchen. The morning felt cold so I put on some sweat pants and my favorite black and white long sleeve shirt. Half asleep I ate a warm, toasted, raisin bagel with a glass of milk. By 4:50, everything was packed in the car and we were ready to leave. My sisters, Patricia and Priscilla, half asleep wrapped in their blankets, walked to the car. The cold, fresh morning air hit my face as soon as I stepped out and I was suddenly wide awake. We were now on our way to Los Osos to spend the summer at my cousin Noah’s house. We entered the 10 freeway and it was completely dead, no cars were driving about it. After about an hour of driving the sun began to rise and it seemed to give life to the freeway, cars began driving onto it and before we knew it were stuck in traffic. My sisters woke up about nine so we took the next off ramp and went to nearby Denny’s to have breakfast. We all ordered chocolate chip pancakes with bacon, sausage and a glass of orange juice, except that my mom and uncle ordered a cup of coffee instead of......

How I Achieved My Balanced Diet

... Ma’am Mayme Olegario How I Achieve a Balanced Diet Balanced diet has become a very crucial step to attain a healthy lifestyle. Several conducted studies show that many people who are inactive to daily tasks and physically unfit are associated to poor diet. In this case, I used to be one of them. When I was in High School, I used to eat only minute amounts of protein and carbohydrates every breakfast and to skip lunch. Because of these improper habits, my health almost deteriorated and eventually, my Body Mass Index lowered from normal to underweight. Later on, I decided to alter my daily routines in my diet. Now, to achieve a balanced diet, consuming food groups at right proportions, partaking junk foods and soft drinks very seldom and controlling my fat and oil intake are ways that I habitually do. First, I always eat the right amount of Go, Grow and Glow Foods. Every meal, these three components are present on my table. I base my Go food diet on starchy foods such as sweet potatoes and rice to get carbohydrates for energy. For my Grow food diet, I make sure there are fishes, less pork and eggs present in any cuisines to get enough protein for body build up. Also for my Glow food Diet, there must be plenty of fruit and vegetables, especially citrus fruits and leafy vegetables in the menu to get vitamins and minerals for body resistance. With the right amount of these components I eat, I always feel healthy and get more active every day. Then, I seldom eat junk foods......

How I Lost My Youth

...How I lost my Youth. I did not know how my last second decision to join the Navy would haunt me for the rest of my life. Where I went from being an innocent kid that was invincible to the world, to bleeding for my country and losing lives of friends. There were moments that led up to this unforgettable situation. It started with General Quarters, which means to man your pre-assigned battle stations, once at your battle station; you must look for all targets while preparing your weapon. Then after all is said and done, I had a point in my life that changed who I was as a person. I had to learn to cope with taking lives and the loss of my best friends. Each of these moments had a lasting effect on me. This situation happened in the Middle East and is where I felt I lost my youth and changed who I was as a person. The day was calm and peaceful in the Persian Gulf about 12 miles off the coast of Iran, when all of a sudden general quarters sounded. The Captains voiced echoed through the hallways, “Man your battle stations; this is not a drill.” In an instant adrenaline pumped through my body as I made my way to the armory. As I was issued my side arm, Kevlar vest, and helmets, I inspected each to make sure they would server their purpose. Once my gear checked out, I moved to the port side bridge wing, where my M60 awaited my arrival. Arriving to my station I had to become alert to my surroundings and locate all targets. Before fully engaging the target I waited for my......

How I Became to Love School

...I didn’t always like going to school in the morning; in fact, I used to hate going to school. I always found it boring, useless, and a waste of time. I always asked my self, “when will I ever need to do/use this outside of this classroom?” The process of getting up early, getting ready and then sitting at school for seven hours a day Monday through Friday didn’t appeal to me one bit. Little by little, I had unknowingly programmed myself into thinking that it was such a burden to go, that I eventually didn’t even want to go at all. Sometimes, I wouldn’t even set my alarm for the next day. Partly, because I wasn’t fond of the idea of having to stay put, seated for a majority of the day cooped up inside, and partly because I didn’t like how early I would have to wake up. I found myself getting into trouble with school, getting behind in my classes, forming a bad attendance record, and my teachers/classmates noticing my poor habits: I had been late so often that I had become truant throughout the year and my first hour class actually had to be switched to a study hall. This had gone on for nearly both of my freshman and sophomore years of high school. At the time, though, doing poorly in school and getting into all of that trouble, unfortunately didn’t bother me. To be quite frank, I really didn’t mind one way or the next whether I passed or failed. I was more caught up with making new friends and making any impression at all (whether it was good or bad) than putting effort......

How I Plan to Improve My Study Habits

...How I Plan to Improve My Study Habits Did you ever stop to wonder what sets apart the really successful students from the average ones? Why do some students who appear to study all the time just get by, while others who don’t appear to put in as much time and effort do well? Is it all related to IQ and genetics or are some other factors involved? The truth is that success in school is not so much determined by sheer intelligence as knowing how to study. Studying is a skill. Being successful in school requires a high level of study skills. Students must first learn these skills, practice them and develop effective study habits in order to be successful. Very often the study habits and practices developed and used in high school do not work for students in college. Good study habits include many different skills: time management, selfdiscipline, concentration, memorization, organization, and effort. Desire to succeed is important, too. In this module you will discover your areas of strength and identify your weaknesses pertaining to studying. You will learn about your preferred learning channel, tips to organize your studies, and ways to help you remember what you study. The skills you will learn about in this module can be applied in other areas of your life as well: your job, your career, or any activity that requires thought, planning, information processing, and selfdiscipline. You’ll find that once you develop effective study habits, the job of......

How to Manage My Family Time

...How to manage my Family Time Arbra Jones GEN 200 Barbara White How to Better Manage my Family Time For most adults twenty-four hours in a day comes and goes faster than they would like. Most days start before the sun rises and ends well into the night with little time in between to notice the possible change in weather. Juggling the responsibilities of family, work, social life and for a growing majority school, requires skills one would normally find in a traveling circus. A person could spend the better part of their day away from home fulfilling work related responsibilities and return only to find there is not enough time for family. So how can a person find the time to complete so many tasks in twenty four hours and still have time to spend with their family? I have learned in order to make sure I have enough time during the day for all my responsibilities as well as time for my family, I must utilize proper time management skills. One of the first steps in proper time management is creating a strategy where goals are planned out. I first need to determine what my daily goals are and create a schedule prioritizing them by order of importance. According to Time-Management-Guide.com, “proper time management starts with prioritizing goals”. Once I create my daily list of goals I can determine which goals will have the most priority. For goals that must be carried out day to day, an example being helping my children complete homework requirements, they......

How Will I Achieve My Goals?

...Shapiro How Will I Achieve my Goals? Imagine starting college for the first time after being out of high school for more than 11 years; sounds terrifying, right? It wasn’t school itself that was terrifying to me but entering a classroom. After two years, I am still trying to overcome this fear. Just the thought of having to speak in front of numerous other students is simply nerve racking. Not understanding things as well as others is another fear that I have from the result of being out of school for so long. My goal in life is to become a patient advocate by using my strengths in paying attention to detail, having compassion for others, and having strong leadership traits. Accomplishing these qualities will improve my weaknesses in communication and confrontation skills. Paying attention to detail will be very beneficial in my goal of becoming a patient advocate. The reason is that I am able to think outside the box, to see the big picture, and to have the ability to not let the little details go unnoticed. Most people can only see what is right in front of them, an attribute that is called tunnel vision. I, however, gather the less important details to help contribute to the bigger picture. For example, when my father passed away, I undoubtedly remember the actual circumstance; but I also remember the little details such as the weather, where I was and what I was doing when I found out, and the feeling that overcame me. This event in my life heightened......

How I Survived the Passing of My Father

...Tyree M. Stokely ENG115 | Week 2 19 Jan 15 How I Overcame My Father’s Death In November 1987, my father suffered from two strokes and ultimately died from a heart attack. I was 13 years old and my world absolutely collapsed. He was the emotional rock that my family relied on and after he passed, a couple of things changed for me – my childhood ended, as I saw it, and I now was the man of the house. This feeling of responsibility was new to me as I was the eldest child but very much sheltered from the perspective how life actually was but I was rudely awakened to it. I now felt a responsibility for my mother and her emotional well-being as well as continuing being the big brother to my younger sister that I had already been. I overcame this by learning how to cope better with the stressors of forced manhood via talking with some of my older family members and friends. They offered me valuable advice on how to deal with everything from male-female relationships as well as the unwritten code of conduct as it pertains to men, and Black men in specific. I am incredibly grateful that I have the opportunity to have these folks in my life for that specific season. I’ve also come to realize that the code of conduct as espoused by society towards being a Black man is very interesting yet complex. We are often asked to be strong and powerful yet not be too aggressive or derelict in our responsibilities or actions. I think that every man needs to have role models......

Hence, spending money wisely is always a good idea, no matter how much we have. The next question is how I could save our money smartly. It might be easy to read or hear from others, but it’s really hard to follow up. Personally, overspending my purchases on anything that unnecessary stuffs was my weakness. However, experiencing to plan it as steps to follow; such as, questioning on any purchases, intelligently managing my money, and wisely purchasing helped me to save up to thirty percent of my every single paycheck. Moreover, bringing myself a financial plan. Normally, financial experts suggest us to chase after our financial plan to know where exactly our money is going. It sounds complex a bit, but I believe it helps us much. I am bad with keeping my receipts for any cash spending, so I got suggested to remember note them out in my notebook or the note on my phone for how much cash that I already purchased for the day. It helps me a lot to create my monthly expenses, the information that I harvest, so I could decrease my expenses and I would know exactly how much I could save. How I Spend My Summer Holidays

...Vacations are the best time to relax and enjoy and I eagerly wait for my summer vacations every year. Every year my school closes in the middle of the month of May and reopens by the end of June. Annual exams get over and the results are declared. This time I got promoted to class nine from class eight. After the hard labor for the examinations, I wanted some rest and also some refreshment. Hence I put aside my books for a few weeks. Next day morning I went out to play with my friends. It was a very hot and sunny day so we decided to play indoor games. In the evening I asked my father and mother to take me to any of the hill stations because I wanted to beat the heat. My father told me that we cannot go to a hill station because all the hotels and resorts are booked beforehand only. It was too hot, the sun was scorching and the wind was deliberating. Fortunately my uncle had invited my family to Haridwar where he had reached two weeks earlier. Me and my parents reached Haridwar. My uncle, my aunty and my cousins were all very excited to see all of us. They welcomed us with a warm heart. At Haridwar I went to the bank of River Ganga in the morning and it was very pleasant to see hundreds of men and women bathing in the stream of Ganga and then offering prayers in the different temples of its “Ghats”. I requested my uncle to take us to the hilly spots in the vicinity. He was kind enough to take all of us there. The hill sights of Laxmi jhoola, Swargashram and......

School and the Time You Spend in It

...The time you spend in school. Instead of having kids sitting in school for hours and hours a day I believe that short sweet and simple school days should take over. There is generally a lot of wasted time during the school day and everyone could receive benefits for shorter days. The teachers would have a lot more time on their hands to grade papers. With all their extra time they can devote more time to their students and any help they may require. The kids would benefit because no one wants to be in school hours on end. Kids would have more free time in their day. They would not need to stress over getting homework done on top of playing sports or any extracurricular activities that promote kids being healthy. They would also benefit because if they start to fall behind in school they can easily stay after class and get the help they need while not worrying about a ride home or missing the bus. Both teachers and kids alike would benefit from the sleep they receive from, not staying up all night trying to get homework done. The overall stress of going to school and having a thousand things running through your head would be eliminated. They both spend more time with family and friends. They have all this free time to get school work done could improve on people being social and stepping away from their cell phones for a change. Today’s school system only focuses on tests to grade how well kids are doing. You see one side of the story with tests. The schools should follow...

How I Look at Filipino School Globalization

...possible interdependence. Globalization of our educational system provides a holistic approach of making sure that the masses can be well-equipped to the foregoing economic demands locally and internationally. Apparently, our foregoing educational needs have been politicized all through the years––from the previous government administration to the present. Implementations of plans oftentimes fall short as to what should have been expected. The head of the state and his subordinate from the Education Department have more shortcomings than realizations. Lack of school facilities, erroneous contexts of books, and massive numbers out-of-school youths are evident. I am in favor of the globalization and modernization of our educational system, but I am deeply saddened by the fact that the government agency in-charge does not meet the expectations planned theoretically. All were promises made to be broken. On the positive note, I guess the creation and improvement of TESDA has made a lot of impact to many, especially to those parents who cannot afford to send their children to college or universities for a degree course, and to those who were degree holders, and unfortunately were still underemployed because of the lack of career options. So far it (TESDA) has helped many people get employed here and overseas. Globalization of our education system could be the grassroots on the alleviation of the living standards of people. It is indeed true that majority of Filipinos still live......
