Pursue of My MBA Degree On December 17, 2008 I received a telephone call from a woman named Jessica Wolfsen, University of Phoenix Alumni Liaison whom congratulated me on completion of my bachelor of science, accounting degree from the University of Phoenix I received in July of 2008. She wanted to know if I have registered on the Alumni Network website, which I had not. Then she asked if I had considered an advance degree. I told her I had concerned the idea but had not made a decision on returning to school. She informed that the University of Phoenix was offer a special in January for students returning to school and she would have an enrollment counselor give me a call to discuss the opportunity in more detail. Approximately an hour later Joseph Sorge, Senior Enrollment Counselor West Division, gave me a call. Joseph and I discussed where I am currently in my career and he subjected that receiving my master of business administration with a concentration in human resources would be a wise personal and professional decision. Therefore, I chose to apply for the master’s program to further my career and on December 19, 2008 I received a letter from the University of Phoenix stating that I had been admitted into the master’s program. This decision came with wanting to become more marketable to advance and improve my knowledge within the business administration and human resources industries. Obtaining my MBA will make me more marketable in the sense that it will set me apart from other individuals who will not have the expertise I will gain during my course study which can help to make me a leader in the field. It will allow me to more out of the payroll box I am currently in and into the human resources profession. I will be able to take my work experience in payroll, undergraduate knowledge in accounting and bridge it together in a new career in…...

MBA degree will help me in clarifying my strengths; therefore, giving me the opportunity to focus more. A person with “ENTP personality is innovative, individualistic, versatile, and entrepreneurial. Possible career as politician, strategic planner, literary agent, publicist, entrepreneur, investment broker, computer analyst and ad executive.” (Personality Inventory, 1989). Pursue an Mba Degree

...Decision to Pursue an MBA Degree Decision to pursue MBA Program is a first step to reach my personal goal and start a new career. After my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science I was offered a job as IT Administrator to a well-known organization and never had an opportunity to think about further education. The decision to obtain an MBA requires a substantial commitment of money and time. However, there are many compelling reasons to pursue an MBA to get ahead in the business world. Below are some of the lines of reasoning that I want to mention: MBAs are internationally recognized Travel to many areas of the world, and most people have at least heard of the graduate degree known as the MBA. This makes it much more valuable than many other business degrees. For example, even though a Master's in Commerce may be a prestigious degree in some countries; other locations may not be familiar with the program. Having an MBA, which is recognized almost universally, will increase my ability to compete for jobs in more locations. MBAs can earn higher salaries One of the major reasons, as I have chosen to pursue an MBA is that it often allows graduates to earn a greater salary. Although the average starting salary for MBA graduates is influenced by the number of years of work experience they have prior to starting their degree, even those with fewer than three years of industry experience reportedly start out earning close to $70,000. This figure rises dramatically as......

The Information Technology is being hit twice as hard by not only the reduction of local positions due to the economy slow down but in addition, the lower cost of outsourcing (Computerworld Staff, Feb 22, 2010) . During a recent reduction in force evaluation by my current employer, I noticed that the employee’s education level was an assessed value, which added to the valuable points for retaining an employee. I decided that continuing my education would be a very important addition to resume, future reduction in force evaluations to maintain my current career or make me more valuable if I was out looking for a job. Originally, I was interested in starting a Master of Science in Management (MSM) (Thomas Edison State College, 2010) to further advancement in my current career in Information Technology (IT) and potentially get into a IT Management position the program is offered strictly on-line. I have also started noticing a pattern of companies “outsourcing” information technology jobs to other countries for cost savings to the US companies and noticed the continued strong increase of revenue for the Outsourced Cognizant Technology Solutions (Ribeiro, Augu) . I......

Why I Decided to Get an Mba Degree

...Fansler MBA: Why I decided to get an MBA degree Receiving my Undergraduate degree was one of my most proud moments in my life, I felt a since of accomplishment, responsibility, and acceptance. I just knew I was going to now be able to provide better for my family. That is why everyone around me said goes to college. Finish and graduate. A college degree can only help you and not hurt you. Well that statement can be a bit misleading, while yes a college degree won’t hurt you, it didn’t help me much either. I got into a situation that I had the degree but lacked the experience. Why didn’t anybody tell me to work as well? Get an internship? A mentor? I guess everyone had the misconception that college degrees grantee a good paying job; however, sometimes it’s not the case. I have come to say continuing education, even well beyond an undergrad, will not only help your career situation, but set a standard for your family and or kids, to always continue learning. Objection: An MBA will not guarantee a good job. It won’t guarantee a job, but what does? Having an MBA has put me more marketable with employers. Bryan Cohen argues that “First-year accountants with an associate degree made an average of $33,300 per year, while those with an MBA earned $39,800 per year as of April 2011 (Cohen, 2001). MBA open a world of big possibilities in a career field., The reason I decided, why not get my degree, is because I know it will pay off in the long run, when I want to pursue......

Why I Chose to Pursue an MBA I decided to pursue an MBA to start a new career and to achieve a personal goal. I have a best friend who persuaded me to further my education. Wondering and worrying about the cost of this type of education caused me to have many sleepless nights and much stress. My concern was finding the time between allocating times with my six year-old son, working part-time as a volunteer and taking care/assisting my parents who are 70. Also my biggest issue I had was who would hire a recent graduate who is almost 50, African-American single parent of a six year-old son and who have never worked in the corporate world. So I prayed and asked GOD to authorize my pursuit of a Master’s degree. I talked with my advisor Lance Thorsen and he eased my mind and encouraged me......
