...bad that she’s not celebrating with them, and no one wants their loved ones to feels bad. She always has to be mindful that in times past Jehovah’s Witnesses were put in prison for their beliefs. Her religion does not require her to dress in a certain way, but modesty in dress is encouraged. There are no specific foods that are part of her daily diet for religious reasons, but for scriptural reasons she abstains from foods that are bloody, for example rare bloody steak. She feels that she has never questioned her faith in her religion since converting to Jehovah’s Witness. She grew up in the Catholic Church as a non-baptized Catholic and then converted to a Jehovah’s Witness. She prays every day and attends services about once every two weeks. She believes that the preaching work she does is the most unique part of her religion. The preaching work is encouraged and is telling people that God has a personal name, which is Jehovah. Also, through the preaching work, reminding people that one day, in God’s kingdom ruled by Jesus, we will no longer have the problems that we have today. The one thing she would want people to know most about her religion is that it is a religion of love for mankind. There are many ways to compare the Jehovah’s Witnesses with more widely accepted versions of Christianity. While there are many differences between traditional Christians and the Jehovah’s Witnesses, there are also many things they have in common. This common ground can help both......

Week 9 Final Paper

...these past nine weeks I have learned so much that I have truly changed as a person to try not to be prejudice towards others. In the past honestly I was very prejudice towards others just by their looks. There are many ways that diversity means for things in the world. So many things are different in the world, but that doesn’t mean we need to be prejudice about things or people. The things I have learned about my own racial, ethnic, and cultural history is that race doesn’t matter. I know that whites use to be the most popular race in the world but that has changed a lot in the last century. Whites are now the third most popular race in the world. For ethnic there are many different groups in my race. Groups like Christians in my race many people are Christians so they are considered an ethnic group. Things I have learned about ethnics are that there are so many different types of groups in the world. They don’t need to be judged or criticized. There are many ethnics about Americans. Cultural history in my race is things that have shaped the world today. Americans have come a very long way in life. They have shaped this world to what it is today. It is a strong nation, one that is always going to fight for their country. A new report from the Pew Research Center projects that immigration will propel the U.S. population total to 438 million by the year 2050. Right now we are at 303 million and the year 2014. As I have been researching over the past eight weeks about......

Com155 Week 9 Final Paper

...significantly to try to close these achievement gaps. (HOME-SCHOOLING: Outstanding results on national tests, 2009) There are several different reasons that people choose home school their children rather than send their children into the public school system. An increasing number of parents are pulling their children out of public schools because of bullying and negative peer pressure; however, that is not the number one reason parents choose to home school their children. I interviewed Jessica Barnes, a teacher who graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Masters degree in Education Administration. She recently relocated her family to Detroit, Michigan and decided that she would home school her son after an incident in the first week at the new Detroit school. Jessica’s son, who is eight, was basically assaulted in the boy’s restroom buy some older boys for no reason. Again according to www.hslda.org, most parents cite religious reasons as the motive behind home schooling their children. Parent’s state that they want to give their children moral guidance and biblical influence that they feel is not practiced or allowed in public schools. Some parents believe that the Bible straightforwardly tells them that their child’s education should be directed by them. Some parents choose to let someone else educate their child whereas some parents think they should be the one to educate their child. Some strongly religious people believe God has delegated the......

Week 9

...Week 9 Capstone Shaquaina Freeman CRT/205 February 15, 2012 Critical thinking is the process of thinking that questions people’s assumption. When using critical thinking you are trying to determine if a claim is true or false or halfway true. It’s good to know how to read and even better when you think critically while reading. When I read and think critically I have an open mind and help me to have a better and deeper understanding on what I am reading. I can process Information better and get good meaning of information when critically thinking. Critical thinking is good when writing it makes me have more than just one point of view on the topic being discussed or the way something occurs. When thinking critically I will be able to write where I express my opinion and try to get my point across to others. My writing will be more logical and explanatory also using critical thinking. Like mention above processing information with critical thinking makes information to have deeper views. It’s best to use critical thinking when reading an article because many authors write articles to try to inform you of something and a lot of them enforce their own opinion on things that may or may not be true. When looking at an article you can determine if sources are accurate by critical thinking or whether information can be helpful. Now dealing with advertising critical thinking is well needed to help a person determine whether the way they suggest products will influence many to...
