There are many different types of rituals that people create. A ritual is an established routine that is followed the same way each time. For example my personal ritual is studying for a math exam. I have created this ritual to help me maintain my concentration for studying. When I am studying for a math exam my main goal is to learn the material so I can do well. I will study for few a days before the exam. On the first night I always spread my books on my bed. After I look over lecture notes, rework problems and look over homework, by doing this it helps me remind me of what has been discussed in previous class. I often doze off when I am studying on my bed this is when I know it is time to change my location. I go get a cup of coffee and study in the kitchen for the reminder of the night. The kitchen is not as comfortable as my bed but it helps me stay awake and I have more space to use on the kitchen table. I stay up until I finish reviewing my lecture notes and homework. The next day I will make an exam for myself. I will take it after a delay period so I would not remember where I got the problems from. I will do this at least two days before the exam. Afterwards I will go back over what I had trouble on the practice exam.
On the afternoon before the exam I reread lecture notes and work out problems. That night I try to clear my head and do something fun just to relax and get the exam out of my head. The next day one hour before the exam I glance over notes and problems just to refresh my memory now I am ready to take the exam. Maintaining this ritual has organized my study habits and has made me a better math student. As a result I have been able to accomplish my goal of doing well on my exam. Keeping this ritual has made it possible to achieve my degree one exam at a…...

...ample use of a related principle, indirect proof by infinite descent. The inductive hypothesis was also employed by the Swiss Jakob Bernoulli, and from then on it became more or less well known. The modern rigorous and systematic treatment of the principle came only in the 19th century, with George Boole,[5] Augustus de Morgan, Charles Sanders Peirce,[6] Giuseppe Peano, and Richard Dedekind.[4] [edit]Description The simplest and most common form of mathematical induction proves that a statement involving a natural number n holds for all values of n. The proof consists of two steps: The basis (base case): showing that the statement holds when n is equal to the lowest value that n is given in the question. Usually, n = 0 or n = 1. The inductive step: showing that if the statement holds for some n, then the statement also holds when n + 1 is substituted for n. The assumption in the inductive step that the statement holds for some n is called the induction hypothesis (or inductive hypothesis). To perform the inductive step, one assumes the induction hypothesis and then uses this assumption to prove the statement for n + 1. The choice between n = 0 and n = 1 in the base case is specific to the context of the proof: If 0 is considered a natural number, as is common in the fields of combinatorics and mathematical logic, then n = 0. If, on the other hand, 1 is taken as the first natural number, then the base case is given by n = 1. This method works by first proving......

My Personal Leadership Philosophy

...MY PERSONAL LEADERSHIP PHILOSOPHY “To Lead with STRENGTH” My ultimate purpose in writing this is to share to everyone my personal leadership philosophy – what I believe to be important as we go on with the service. I believe that in imparting this set of guidance, you will come to understand who I am, what rules I live and work by, what you can expect from me and what I expect from you, and how I will evaluate your performance. In view hereof, I hope you will learn to trust my actions and know where I am heading. As I round up my values in life, I found out that the foundation of all my feats as I go up the ladder of my career is my STRENGTH. It always gives me the direction; it serves as my compass. The STRENGTH that I’m referring to here is neither physical nor psychological, but rather the energy to organize myself to effectively and efficiently perform my tasks, and the power to unite all of us so that we are able to attain the Army’s Vision of becoming “a professional, capable and responsive Army that is a source of National Pride.” And being your leader, it is my primary duty to impart this STRENGTH so that each of us here will have a moral compass to guide us through the maze of intellectual, philosophical and emotional issues that encompass our lives and the Army. STRENGTH outlines my character and translates to: Selfless service, Trust, Respect, Empowerment, Nobleness, God, Teamwork, and Humility. Selfless Service: When I speak about selfless service, it...

My Personal Learning Style

...My Personal Learning Assessment Virginia Tucker AET: 525 February 26th, 2012 Deborah Hatfield My Personal Learning Assessment Many factors can affect a student’s ability to perform successfully in the classroom. One of these factors is his or her personal learning style. According to Howard Gardner, there are seven distinct learning styles (Gardner, 1985). The first of these styles is known as the “Verbal-Linguistic” Learner. A student with this type of learning style prefers to learn by using words and being vocal in class. He or she will use stories and enjoy question and answer sessions in class settings (Gardner, 1985). As with any learning style, there are problems that may arise with this particular learning style. Some examples include: 1. Difficulty with online classroom learning environments- These students strive on one-on-one interaction with both the instructor and other students. Not having this could greatly affect their learning ability. 2. Not working well with shy individuals in a team setting- “Verbal-Linguistic” learners need social interaction to fully learn a subject being presented to them in a class. These students may burden and or overshadow quieter students who prefer to work in a quieter environment. The second learning style is an “auditory” learner. An “auditory” learner relies on his or her hearing to succeed in the classroom. These students are very particular about their choice of words when speaking inside the......

My Personal Plan

...Running Head: My Personal Plan My Personal Plan GEN/195 26 June 2013 My goals for myself are to keep working in my current profession and get my degree in business management in the service sector. As I reflect on how I want to achieve my goals as a student and for my future I must look back and see what I have already accomplished. Some of the goals have been achievable while others have been set for future dates. I always knew what I wanted to do in my life ever since I graduated high school. I would like to successfully complete all my classes necessary to obtain my bachelors degree. There are many goals and steps to take before the ultimate goal is conquered. For instance, goals such as studying, time management, write papers, and collaborating as a team. I hope to learn and even be reminded of what my own kids give me, and also the knowledge I have from my military achievements and apply them now to college goals. First, while attending college I will be learning how to better manage my time with school, work, and my kids. Going to work fulltime and fulfilling the kids needs can be very time consuming for all the assignment and projects that need to be completed for school. Time management is a top priority and a responsibility that I need to use effectively to increase my knowledge in attaining my degree. Next, the future outlook for me in the business management is very much favorable. The industry will experience an uprising in shifts both......

My Personal Development Plan

...References 7 Websites 7 Videos 7 My Personal Development Plan Introduction & Goal statement “Who fails to plan, planning to fail” (Winston Churchill) We live in a rapidly changing world which makes it really difficult to set long term goals. Development plan for four years is a huge deal you never know what next day will bring; victory or fiasco, birth or death, answers or questions. As we go through life, we meet changes that make our character stand above and lay the foundation for our state. Of course these kind of changes can make improvements to a previously selected path way. However, my personal development plan will consider possible changes in order to reduce possible improvements to the plan. Since childhood my parents always took care of me, and the hardest thing that could bother me was homework, which was also done under the supervision of my parents. And coming to Malaysia I entered a new chapter in my life, where make my own decisions and take responsibility for them. I am starting to control my life by myself, setting goals and solving the problems that I can face while achieving them. Including foundation I have four years of study to get Bachelors Degree, so I will graduate in 2016. During these four years 2013-2017 I am planning not only to get Bachelors Degree in International Business Management, but also set a strong foundation for a bright future. The goal for the next four years is to develop my personal and educational abilities in......

My Personal World View

...Personal Worldview Inventory Mary Beth F. Salwierz Grand Canyon University Personal Worldview Inventory The concept of spirituality is a part of the human experience and encompasses the search for meaning in life. It is a sense that there is a power greater than ourselves and it connects us to each other and other creatures. Spirituality is about seeking a meaningful connection with something bigger than yourself, which can result in positive emotions, such as peace, awe, contentment, gratitude, and acceptance ("Spirituality," n.d.). Philosophically the search for spirituality encompasses asking the questions “Who, what and why are we, what is my purpose and where did I come from?” ("Spirituality," n.d.). Some people seek the answers to these questions through their religion while others find them through art or nature. Sociology’s definition of spirituality is based on the study of relationships where people influence other people. Sociology describes spirituality as spiritual practices, rituals, and social morality of a group of people (Seaward, 2013, p. 34). Thus sociology would encompass the idea of religious pluralism. Religious pluralism is the concept that no one religion is the way to god. Rather it recognizes that there are religions other than Christianity that seek to commune with god ("Pluralism," n.d.). The ecumenical concept has only recently become part of western culture ("Pluralism," n.d.). People perceive their lives through the lens of......

My Personal Values

...My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual’s value system is different from one another because individual’s values are built up through one’s life experience, environment, and family background.  Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys.  Since we live in a highly connected society, each person’s value system does not only affect one’s own life, but also affects many other people and the human society as a whole. Therefore only people with a high moral standard values can bring more good things to our society, and improve thus improve our society as a whole. My value system contains respect to others, integrity, education, and innovation. I value those things because they are consistent with high moral standards and will bring good things to me, to my family, people around me, and ultimately bring good things to our society. First, I highly value respect for others. Respect for others means acknowledging each other, listening to other's opinions, their feelings, their time, and their personal space. It also means you should do unto others, as you would have them do unto you. From utilitarianism point of view, a moral action......

My Personal Responsibility Essay

...My personal responsibility essay Marlene Charles GEN-200 June 10, 2012 Mrs. Melissa Ray My personal responsibility essay In life, there comes a time that we all have responsibilities that we must own up to. We have responsibilities as a parent, a teacher, and even an employee. As a student, in order to reach my academic success I must obtain certain type of responsibilities. These responsibilities will have to consist of attendance, studying, and participation. The first way to achieve my academic success is to maintain my attendance. Attendance is something that a student must take seriously to be academically successful. There are ways that as a student I can be successful in maintaining a good attendance. First step is to take the time out to review the schools attendance policies and guidelines; this can help remind me of my responsibility. According to Green’s article “Every teacher is looking for students who are serious about the subject at hand, who work hard in the classroom and who show progress and ability.” (Green, 2004) Another way is to set a schedule for attending classes and checking in for online classes. Also making arrangements by providing my instructor and team with my information in case of emergency, and possessing a backup plan for completing and making attendance in advance. Another way for achieving my academic success is to study. Creating good study habits is an excellent way to complete my goals in school. Things that can help......
