I am a Generation X individual which I believe has a lot to do with my opinions on this matter of balancing work and family. I grew up in a home where both of my parents worked full time. I witnessed my mother do basically all of the housework when she came home. She cleaned, cooked, and did all the duties of helping the children get their homework done and ready for bed. My dad, on the other hand would come in from his full time teaching job, change clothes, and make his way to the chicken house or the strawberry fields to do yet another full time job. My parents seemed very balanced and happy with their roles in raising our family. This type of situation is also much of what I witnessed in the homes of my aunts and uncles as well. So of course this seemed very normal to me. I married very young and my husband and I have worked together using role compartmentalization (although we never called it that at the time) all of our married lives. We were both in school when we first married and both held part time jobs. As a newlywed I did not mind preforming all the housework duties, as time went by I began to realize that I had been doing the bulk of the work while he was coming home and laying back. We had to have a discussion and sort out our different responsibilities. This very important conversation, I believe, probably saved our marriage. I here friends say over and over again that their husbands just don’t help them out and they resent their husband for that. These friends of mine are having an overload of what the book termed “third shift” the expense of emotional energy by a spouse or parent in dealing with various issues in family living. After reading the text and provided articles, it is apparent that men are doing more housework than they had been in previous generations. I do see a more egalitarian approach to…...

...(IJCSIS) International Journal of Computer Science and Information Security, Vol. 10, No. 3, March 2012 An Efficient Automatic Attendance System Using Fingerprint Reconstruction Technique Josphineleela.R Dr.M.Ramakrishnan Research scholar Department of Computer Science and Engineering Sathyabamauniversity Chennai,India ilanleela@yahoo.com Professor/HOD-IT Velammal Engineering College Chennai,India ramkrishod@gmail.com Abstract— Biometric time and attendance system is one of the most successful applications of biometric technology. One of the main advantage of a biometric time and attendance system is it avoids "buddy-punching". Buddy punching was a major loophole which will be exploiting in the traditional time attendance systems. Fingerprint recognition is an established field today, but still identifying individual from a set of enrolled fingerprints is a time taking process. Most fingerprint-based biometric systems store the minutiae template of a user in the database. It has been traditionally assumed that the minutiae template of a user does not reveal any information about the original fingerprint. This belief has now been shown to be false; several algorithms have been proposed that can reconstruct fingerprint images from minutiae templates. In this paper, a novel fingerprint reconstruction algorithm is proposed to reconstruct the phase image, which is then converted into the grayscale image. The proposed reconstruction......

...HIST. 109 READING JOURNAL(S) II & III CHAPTERS 5 - 12 In chapter five I learn quite a few key points in history I was not aware of. For one it appears that much of early America and Europe are in turmoil as there are several distinct conflicts that arise; most based on difference of opinion or beliefs. “The political fate of North America also remained in question, as the English, the French, and the Indians continued to struggle for supremacy over the continent; developments during the half-century after 1700 intensified both social diversity and political uncertainty, resulting in an increasing incidence of violent conflict.” I feel young Americas early development was all over the place as all its settlers were trying to figure out what worked best for themselves. Everything from religion, difference in opinion on the subject of slavery, and enlightenment had early Americans at each other throats. Even though a centuries worth of settlement had elapsed, no one seemed to legitimately “settle”. I feel like early Americans were over zealous; everyone had their own idea of how things should work in the new land and no one could make up their mind or settle on one image. This is to be expected in my opinion as there were those still faithful to backcountry beliefs, English immigrants, who contradicted with non-English immigrants ideals. It was that difference in beliefs that had drew cause for conflict and war. Britain tried to choke hold Americans into submission......

...Journal Entry #1 Interpersonal communication involves eye contact. For me there is nothing worse then looking down or away when you’re having a discussion with someone and especially if you’re having a serious conversation. When I was younger I had a problem with looking people in their eyes when I was being talked to but realized how bad it was when it was being done to me in a more serious matter. Another thing that could effect a conversation is a clear speaking voice. This is not only to not interpret the message clearly but to make sure things don’t have to be repeated over and over again due to the person not hearing you and running the chance of not understanding you as well. 3-5 goals I have set for myself this semester are: 1. Complete all my classes-what I mean by this is that I’m scheduled to graduate in June 2010 but up until last year I have never dropped a course which I signed up for but I have dropped one last semester and two this semester, but have picked up several to replace them. 2. Become a better parent of my six year old daughter. Everyone tells me I’m a really good parent but for me I always thing I could be doing better. I have found a free parenting class to attend and out of the tow classes I have attended I’ve learned a lot so far. 3. Don’t procrastinate. I’ve haven’t been a procrastinator but recently the last 6 months its started to grow on me. I’m unemployed at the moment and definitely should have enough time throughout the day...

...International Journal of Event Management Research Volume 6, Number 1, 2011 www.ijemr.org VOLUNTEER SATISFACTION AND INTENT TO REMAIN: AN ANALYSIS OF CONTRIBUTING FACTORS AMONG PROFESSIONAL GOLF EVENT VOLUNTEERS Gina Pauline Syracuse University ABSTRACT Sport events are increasingly reliant on episodic volunteers for the successful delivery of an event. As there continues to exist a surge in the organization of sporting events coupled with the demand for volunteers, event organizers must concern themselves with utilizing the appropriate recruitment and retention strategies. In an effort to do this, one must understand the points of satisfaction for volunteers as well as factors influencing their future intentions to volunteer. While there exists a plethora of research to understand the motivation of volunteers, exploring the antecedents of volunteer satisfaction as well as intent to remain has been limited. This study investigates the factors influencing volunteer satisfaction as well as intentions to remain as a volunteer for future sporting events from an elite men’s golf event on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) circuit. Results indicated that overall volunteers were satisfied with their experience and willing to return yet were concerned with the level of communication between the organization and volunteers. The present study also found that longevity of service influenced volunteer satisfaction. A MANOVA revealed significant differences between first......

...Journal Article Critique HCA/220 August 24, 2014 The article that I have chosen is Spinal Bifida a Multidisciplinary Prospective. This article also focuses on treatment strategies and that can help with the developmental disabilities associated with Spinal Bifida. ...Journals Student’s Name Institution Journal 1: Part 1 Work in my opinion refers to the legitimate means by which man makes a living. Every individual in life has demands that need fulfillment. Individuals have responsibilities that they have to handle. Work enables individuals to earn a living that in turn enables them to meet these responsibilities. It implies that for any normal human being to live comfortably, one must work. Besides earning a living, work enables to utilize our time well. The world today could be full of vices if everybody had nothing to do. They deem that the fiend employs of redundant minds explains this situation clearly. Individuals ought to embrace the work and take it positively rather than viewing it as a punishment. Work should be as part of us, and a means through which human beings maintain their dignity and live respectable lives (Connors and Paul, 2009). The culture of rewarding hard workers cultivated in me the culture of hard work and a positive view towards life. From my tender age, I learned that the work was the way of life and the only way through which individuals could better their lives. On academic grounds, I must state that the teachings by our teachers towards work had a lot of impact on me. They taught work as a virtue and changed my perception towards work. Family provided me with my first interaction with the work. My parents could divide the work and go ahead to reward those who did good work. It instilled in me the...

...Group Theory Unit 8, Journal 2 – Managing Conflict See also the section on Conflict as a Mutual Problem, pages 372-385 Describe a situation from your life for each of the following 4 scenarios that demonstrates the difference between the following: 1. Issues versus Personalities One instance that I can recall pertaining to this scenario is while on active duty deployment to Spain I was given a task with zero specific direction on how to accomplish said task. Now to explain why this is important, the task could have been accomplish 3 different ways, the easy way which took less time and people to accomplish, the in between area which is easy but takes a little more time because you pay a little more attention to certain tasks, and the best way, which isn’t ideal because we didn’t have the number of people required, the amount of equipment needed or the extra materials needed. The work being done was necessary but repairing it vs destruction and construction of a new one was less costly and more logical. The chief was having a bad day so when I asked him he just screamed “Work with what you got!” So did the less costly method and repaired the structure. Chief decided it was the wrong way and when I asked him why he didn’t tell me that in the beginning he wrote me up for insubordination. Chiefs personality interfered with his ability to give me accurate operational orders causing me to do the task the proper way but not exactly how he wanted. 2. Interests......

...Ashton Bricker Journal #8 12 March 2015 Professor Jordan told us this week that in order to fix the blind area of the Johari window, you need to get feedback. I have seen this put into action in life. One time in middle school, there was a day where one of my friends had really smelly breath. To try and help her one of my other friends went up to her and told her as nicely as possible that her breath didn’t smell that great and gave her a piece of gum. That turned out to be one of the best things she could have done because the one girl was completely unaware that her breath smelled bad. After seeing how this helped, I will always try to get as much feedback as possible and to give feedback to people when they need it. Another important thing Professor Jordan told us was that you should keep your private life to yourself at work. I completely agree with this. I once had a guy I worked with that talked about his personal life at work way too much. One day he ended up over sharing some things he shouldn’t have and the boss never quite forgot it. Eventually the guy lost his job. Because I know the effect that over sharing can have on your job, I will try not to talk about my personal life at work. Lastly, Professor Jordan told us that one drink should be the max at an office party. I think this is a good idea. I have seen many of my friends have too many drinks and then tell anyone who will listen all about their personal life. They usually end up sharing something way...

...Week 5 Journal Entry Lisa Clarke October 8, 2015 Keeping a journal has benefiting me and help improve my writing skills in a few ways. I have never kept a Journal before because I kept everything I was thinking inside my head. Keeping a journal has allowed me to put all my thoughts and ideas on paper. When I was able to see my ideas on paper it allowed me to become more creative. I played around with my ideas to come up with outlines for my assignments. I was able to use my journal as reference to go back to track my everyday movements and whereabouts and also write what I was thinking on those days. Keeping a journal can also help me with my writing skills because I am able to just write freely without judgment. I can transfer what I from my journal to help me come up with a topic for a paper. October 8, 2015 In regards to mechanics, usage and organization with my writing I have improved. Even though I still need improvement the writing skills labs did help me become aware of my weaknesses and strengths in writing. I have become more aware of how to improve sentence structure but I need to practice more on when to use certain punctuation like comma, semicolon and when to use quotation marks. I also learned about developing thesis and topic sentences but this is also an area that I need to improve on. I definitely will be referring back to the writing skills labs when I need to clarify the mechanics, usage and organization of all writing projects....

...Journal Article Critique MS is a diseases that affects the muscles, joints and nervous symptoms of the human body. As every disease needs a care plan there is as of now no guidelines to how osteoporosis is to be treated in patients with this disease.
