Co-curricular activities (CCAs), previously known as Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) are activities that educational organisations in some parts of the world create for school students. They are activities which all school students must attend alongside the standard study curriculum. In Singapore, the policy was introduced by the Ministry of Education, which believe extra activities for school students are a means to enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and self-confidence. At higher levels of education, CCA participation may even translate into academic points.

The scope of CCAs is wide due to a nearly inexhaustible list of interests. Some of the major groups include Computer Club, Art Club, Dance Club, Swimming, Basketball and Photography Club. Uniformed groups include the St. John Ambulance Brigade (SJAB), Red Cross, Military Band, The Singapore Scout Association, Girl Guides Singapore, National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) and National Cadet Corps (NCC). Performing arts groups are also included, with Chinese Orchestra, choirs, bands and Dance Clubs among such CCAs.

CCAs are held outside standard curriculum hours and the activities partaken depend on the nature of CCA. For example, Uniformed groups do foot drills and team-building exercises while competitive sportsmen spend most of the time training and learning techniques from their instructors.

In the first year, the students are required to pick one or more interest group to join. While the choices available to students differ from school to school, there are national requirements for the…...

Prepare a schedule of expected cash collections for the month of March. 2. a) What are the major weaknesses of static budgets? “Directly comparing static planning budget revenues and costs to actual revenues and costs can easily lead to erroneous conclusions. Actual revenues and costs differ from budgeted revenues and costs for a variety of reasons, but one of the biggest is a change in the level of activity. One would expect actual revenues and costs to increase or decrease as the activity level increases or decreases. Flexible budgets enable managers to isolate the various causes of the differences between budgeted and actual costs” (Garrison 397). Garrison, R.. Managerial Accounting, 14th Edition. ...few hours when an older Driver by the name of John asked me to help him take out boxes. When he asked me to take out boxes I felt like since he was older it was only the polite thing to do in that situation. I would soon learn that more favors and request would come from John. When the favors and extra request started coming from older workers, I felt that I was being taken advantage of. This is when I asked my father for advice about when it was okay to say no to older people. He informed me that when you are working everyone should be equal and nobody should get special treatment. He also told me that if someone can’t hold their own then a manager needs to be informed about the situation. Then next time that John asked me to take out boxes I respectfully told him that I have work to do and wouldn’t be able to assist him. When I told him that I felt that I learned a lesson that I will take with me for the rest of my life. ...EXTRA CREDIT Molin Cheng After reading these two articles we can see each of them use a different way to improve ethylene yield. The two have the same goal, but also has a conflict theory and each of them have its advantages and disadvantages. First, let’s talk about the article “Oxidative Pyrolysis of Ethane”, which assumes that the effects of the oxygen addition can be beneficial to industrial crack in three manners: decreased residence time or increased throughput, higher severity, or reduced tubeskin temperature and longer coil lifetime. After the experiment, the author gets with that the addition of oxygen increases the ethane conversion. The ethylene yields decrease slightly at the feed oxygen compositions higher than 5mol%, which is the result of a slight decrease in ethylene selectivity and most of the oxygen is converted to CO. Then, a computer modeling simulations showed that the oxygen addition has a large impact on the heat effect of the cracking reaction, that means the residence time can be lowered, the severity of ethane cracking can be further increased and the tubeskin temperatures can be lowered. In brief, the addition of oxygen can increased the ethane conversion and with the heat effect of the cracking reaction we can extended operation cycle time and coil lifetime, however the ethylene yields decrease after the oxygen compositions higher than 5mol% and will generate a lot of CO. Then, we talk about another article “High Selectivities To......

Surveys were given to the students to observe if physical activities are correlated with the student’s academic performance. He found out that vigorous physical activity is positively correlated with the academic performance in the case of boys. However, strengthening exercises were not positively correlated with the academic performance of both boys and girls. He also discovered that adequate physical activity can provide health benefits and it can be very helpful in......

...Extra Credit Today I attend a lecture talking about the errors within the focus of the US energy market and the ability to face the challenge of carbon dioxide pollution by Roger Sant. The emissions of carbon dioxide and other long-lived greenhouse gases that build up in the atmosphere endanger the health and welfare of current and future generations by causing climate change and ocean acidification. Long-lived greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere, include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and fluorinated gases. These gases are produced by a numerous and diverse human activities. Throughout this lecture, I realized that the risks to public health and the environment from climate change are substantial and far-reaching. Lecturer warn that carbon pollution and resulting climate change are expected to lead to more intense hurricanes and storms, heavier and more frequent flooding, increased drought, and more severe wildfires—events that can cause deaths, injuries, and billions of dollars of damage to property and the nation’s infrastructure. Some of these impacts already have been observed. Carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas pollution leads to more frequent and intense heat waves that increase mortality, especially among the poor and elderly. Other climate change public health concerns raised in the scientific literature include anticipated increases in ground-level ozone pollution, the potential for enhanced spread of some waterborne and pest-related......

...Extra credit I recently watched the Bruce Jenner interview and I was shocked at the things he said. I had never heard someone who was a Tran’s gender’s life story. It was at times sad but also happy that he was finally making a decision to be happy. From a young age Bruce knew that his biological sex was different then his gender. He said he used to put on his sisters dress’s and walk around the house. In class we learned how gender is the societies way of perceiving your sex and this was definitely relevant here because society said it wasn’t ok for Bruce to wear dresses but he wanted to because in his soul he knew he didn’t have the heart or soul of a male. Bruce grew up trying to ignore it, he was at one time the world’s greatest athlete which is very manly but even then he wasn’t happy. Finally he married his first wife and told her his secret but continued to keep it a secret from everyone else and also started a family with kids. He then began taking estrogen pills which helped him because then he felt more feminine. He then married his second wife and the same thing happened. At this time, they were the only people who knew. When Bruce married his 3rd wife he was not happy, he began going out in public with dresses on in disguise so no one recognized him and the paparazzi began to question him. Bruce got his Adams apple shaved down and to society that is not a typical male gender role so they questioned him and then commented on his hair and basically said he was too...

...Extra Credit Assignment 2 The world is full of entrepreneurs who have created a business or product that they believed in. The industry of modeling is no different. The article from Forbes.com identifies a plus size woman, Ashley Graham, who created the healthy image of women to be pictured on the front cover of Sport Illustrated Magazine along with her own lingerie line. The article is written by Susan Adams who demonstrated a unique take on the everyday interviewing process which relates to the concepts of interviewing biases that we have discussed in class. The first concept that the article shows is about the business model with a closer look at two of the nine components; value proposition and customer segment. The article not only shows how entrepreneurs’ ideas come in all shapes and sizes but so do their owners. Graham not only is the first plus size woman on the cover of Sports Illustrated, but she has produced her own clothing line that has over $1.6 million in sales. She uses the business model to segment her market and assess the needs and values of her customers. The first step in the business model that I will be examining is the value proposition and how it is all about satisfying the needs of your customers and solving the problems that occur. This concept allows Graham to connect with her customers on a unique level by offering them a clothing/ lingerie line for those women who are plus size. She solves the plus sized women’s problem of finding lingerie......
