Rigtige venner

”Go’ morgen gutter!

Kurt Vonnegut

...Kurt Vonnegut Vonnegut’s readers will often find themselves misled or confused. His style of writing is organized randomness from his cynical point of view. In A Man Without A Country, Vonnegut shows the ugly truth about our government and his views on how it doesn’t work. Vonnegut’s perspective of family is also exceptionally candid. He is able to tie family life and values into politics. As a reader it is very hard to make out Vonnegut’s meaning because of his enormous amount of satire. Vonnegut’s strong beliefs in government and politics leave you wondering his true feelings about our government. In Vonnegut’s words, “George Bush has gathered around him upper-crust C-students who know no history or geography, plus not-so-closeted white supremacists, aka Christians, and plus, most frighteningly, psychopathic personalities, or PPs, the medical term for smart, personable people who have no consciences.” When Vonnegut says this he’s trying to show just how pathetic our government truly is. He sees the government as being such a big joke that it would make a fascinating reality television show. Anyone who watches reality Television shows can see just how impractical they are and how dumb people can become. He also explains within his words that average people who were C-students are running the government. It’s obvious that he feels as if the people given power and supremacy should not be elected to make the decisions for what is right and what is wrong within our country...

Kurt Vonnegut's Burgeron

...Javier Issac Arredondo Dr. Maria D. Salinas ENGL 1302.001 19 June 2013 Conformity amongst the Oppressed It can be said that if nobody obeys, nobody rules. Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. wrote a short story titled "Harrison Bergeron" and discusses about the equality amongst the people in every way possible in the year 2081. The short story focuses on three characters: Harrison Bergeron, his parents George and Hazel Bergeron, and the United States Handicapper General Diana Moon Glampers. In the year 2081, everybody was forced to wear various types of handicaps so everyone can finally be equal amongst each other and there would not be any competition. Harrison, on the other hand, felt that he needed to overthrow the government and become the emperor of the United States. However, the attempt to overthrow progressively fails when Glampers "fired [with a double-barreled ten-gauge shotgun] twice, and the Emperor and [the] Empress were [killed]" (Vonnegut 221) on live television. Throughout the story, the author claims the assumption that the weights the people wear resembles what society doesn't want to see, specifically the government. The issue about the government in the year 2081 is the idea of controlling everybody's appearance and handicap them into a very bland, mediocre society to where nobody is better than anybody. In the story, everyone was required (basically forced to in any way possible) to wear some sort of handicap so nobody won’t have any advantages against each......

Kurt Lewin

...this research is concentrated around Kurt Lewin’s Force-Field Theory of Change and how it affected the landscape of the business word and how it applies to the world we live and operate in currently. Many of theories and principles that are generally accepted in the business world today derive from some of the principles outlined by Lewin and his research. His work has been discounted by scholars as it is deemed to be outdated and not applicable to the current world. The paper specifically looks at certain ways in which Lewin’s principles do still apply and how the Force-Field Theory is still a foundational value throughout much of the business world whether directly or through an evolutionary process. It is with this in mind that the paper is created and analyzes real world cases where this process has been executed to successfully help firms and also where it has been abandoned with consequences for other businesses. The creation and implementation of the main focus principles of Lewin’s Force-Field Theory is explained in depth and demonstrates how firms in the present can learn foundational and evolved theories from the work that Lewin executed in the 1900s for success in the present and future of firms across different platforms of business segmentation. An Analysis of Lewin’s Force-Field Theory of Change During his life, Kurt Lewin analyzed change before his eyes, not just in his philosophical and psychological seminars and studies. Kurt Lewin was born in 1890 in......

Kurt Vonnegut

...The author's name appears in print as "Kurt Vonnegut, Jr." throughout the first half of his published writing career; beginning with the 1976 publication of Slapstick, he dropped the "Jr." and was simply billed as Kurt Vonnegut. His older brother, Bernard Vonnegut, was an atmospheric scientist at the University at Albany, SUNY, who discovered that silver iodide could be used for cloud seeding, the process of artificially stimulating precipitation. After returning from World War II, Kurt Vonnegut married his childhood sweetheart, Jane Marie Cox, writing about their courtship in several of his short stories. In the 1960s they lived in Barnstable, Massachusetts, where for a while Vonnegut worked at a Saab dealership. The couple separated in 1970. He did not divorce Cox until 1979, but from 1970 Vonnegut lived with the woman who would later become his second wife, photographer Jill Krementz.[2] Krementz and Vonnegut were married after the divorce from Cox was finalized. He raised seven children: three from his first marriage; his sister Alice's three children, adopted by Vonnegut after her death from cancer; and a seventh, Lily, adopted with Krementz. His only biological son, Mark Vonnegut, a pediatrician, wrote the book The Eden Express: A Memoir of Insanity (Seven Stories Press, 2010),[22] about his experiences in the late 1960s and his major psychotic breakdown and recovery. Mark was named after Mark Twain, whom Vonnegut considered an American saint.[23] His daughter Edith......

Kurt Cobain Conspiracy Theories

...Alexandria Chavez English 68 Professor Tolliver Essay #3 2 December 2014 A Mystery Unsolved Kurt Cobain: Suicide or Murder? Early morning April 8, 1994, 27 year-old Kurt Cobain, lead singer of rock band Nirvana, is found dead inside the greenhouse of his Seattle mansion. After checking himself out of a rehab facility located near Los Angeles, Cobain traveled back to his home in Lake Washington, Seattle – only a few days later did his wife, Courtney Love, file a missing persons report for her husband. Allegedly stuck in Los Angeles for business, Love could not search for Cobain on her own time; she hired a private investigator named Tom Grant to go out on the hunt for the Rock and Roll sensation. Grant and best friend of Cobain, Dylan Carlson, began an investigation that led nowhere; they searched the Lake Washington house several times, visited numerous hotels along the Aurora strip, and even checked out a few of Cobain’s drug dealers. When the morning of April 8 flew around, it took an electrician hired by Love to discover the deceased body of Kurt Cobain. Positioned on his back, Cobain was recognized with a shotgun cemented between his fingertips and a purported suicide note settled on a planter just feet away. Immediately, police officers ruled his death as suicide, but Nirvana fans, close friends and family, and Grant suggested that was not the case – they believed Kurt Cobain was indeed murdered. Although it may sound preposterous, there is evidence directly......

Da Vinci

...Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) wrote a treatise, the Codex on the Flight of Birds, which put forth the first scientific observations on the subject of flight. He discovered the vortices that are produced off the wings, and observed the alulae, or "thumbs" of the wings. He was concerned with the center of gravity, stability, and manoeuvrability. Leonardo sketched several types of flying machines: helical wing, beating wings, parachute, and bat's wings. Through real life trial and error Da Vinci learned the difficulty of realizing his great dream of flying in a machine powered by human propulsion, and turned his talents toward the problem of gliding flight. In the glider drawing below, the flyer's position is studied at the point where he is balanced through movements of the lower part of the body. The wings, modelled upon bats and birds of large wingspans, are fixed on the inboard portion and mobile at the external portion. This part of the wing in fact can be moved by the flyer by a control cable connected to handles. Leonardo arrived at this solution by studying the wing structure of birds and observing that the inboard part of their wings move more slowly than the outboard, and that therefore serve to thus sustain themselves and produce forward thrust. "The great bird will take flight above the ridge...filling the universe with awe, filling all writings with its fame..." - Leonardo Da Vinci Early Da Vinci gliders had a articulated wing with a system of belts......

...doesn’t.”- Dave Grohl, band member of Nirvana What would music have been like in the 1990s without Kurt Cobain? Or maybe the question to ask is, “What would music be like today if Kurt Cobain was alive?” The grunge movement was brought to life by the front man of the band Nirvana, Kurt Cobain (Kurt and Courtney). He was what most believed to be an iconic man in the 1990s for the music genre known as alternative rock/grunge. Kurt Cobain passed away on April 5th, 1994, in his home, when he was only 27 years old (“April 05”). He recently started a family with his wife Courtney Love, who was also a musician in a band called Hole (Kurt and Courtney). Kurt was in and out of rehabilitation centers for his drug addiction, and soon before his death had, what people considered at the time, an accidental overdose in Rome. The day his corpse was found an electrician reports his findings. The police and fire department arrive. Pictures are taken of the scene, and then handed to detectives to enhance the report of the incident that took place on the street of Lake Washington Boulevard. As news spreads of the musician’s tragedy fans gather at his house and a memorial service is performed in his honor (Kurt and Courtney). I now tell you the story of how and when Kurt Donald Cobain’s body was found. Kurt Cobain

...Kurt Cobain The number one cause of death in teens is suicide? Looking back to one of the most commonly known and most devistating suicides, of Kurt Cobain lead singer of the former band Nirvana. In his time of music he had the world in his hands. He used personal turmoil as fuel for great music. Suprisingly, he seemed unusually tortured by success. The author of Come As You Are: The Story of Nirvana said, "He was a very bright, sweet, generous, and caring person, perhaps a little too sweet and sensitive for the business he was in." One of Cobain's biggest worries was that his band had sold out. In one line of a not-so-popular song he says, "I'd rather be dead than be cool." It seemed like the once unknown punkish Seattle band moved mainstream overnight. Nirvana caught on fast and changed rock and roll music forever. Nirvana, along with a few other Seattle bands, molded the music of the 90's, alternative. Where did it all start for Kurt? Kurt Donald Cobain was born February 20, 1967. He was a happy child living with his mother and father in Aberdeen, Washington. But the happiness, soon interrupted in 1975 when Kurt's parents got divorced. Kurt was ashamed. He longed for the typical "Brady Bunch" family, but instead he lived in a trailor with his mother. In result of this Cobain became extremely anti-social, he had few friends, and was beat up alot. Kurt Nirvana Grung Cool

...A great band Actually I am a zealous person when it comes to rock music. Although there are many great bands and singers who have done great things in the past, the most impressive one for me is nirvana. They represent the working class and the singer kurt cobain went through a lot of depression and pain and eventually kill himself. When it comes to nirvana we have to invoke the soul of band kurt cobain who he had an un happy childhood. And place he grow up is Seattle was always violence, but when he touched the guitar , it brought peace and relieved him stress and pain. Lately he formed the band and had some performance . gradually he got more and more success and won some fame that he could never image before. I know the fame and money is supposed to bring great joy to a person in a short time . but if you are not suitable to bear these invisiable things . it will devour your soul. Especially like Cobain suffered much pain, he was very clear about what he needed. For some people have a fragile spirit. Love is key medicine . but fame dosen’t consist of love and only has profits. Naturally , when he met his lover and fell in love with her, they had a baby. That was possibly the happiest memory of his whole life. But good things never last forever. The taste of the mainstream had changed and he was now gaining popularity in the alternative movement. As a consequence, they were not satisfied with the albums produced under the direction of their record company, who still......

Kurt Cobain

...Greg Beuning Board of Trustees Scholarship Essay 1/31/2010 Smells like Kurt Cobain “Come as you are, as you were, as I want you to be.” These lyrics, from the Nirvana song Come as You Are, are some of Kurt Cobain’s most famous and they provide a quick glimpse into the mind of a very complex man. It has been written that “NO ONE more exactly personified America's 'slacker' generation than Kurt Cobain, Nirvana's leader and songwriter.” Kurt Cobain is one of the people who have had such an impact on the music of his era that it could be said that he changed music. Cobain wasn’t known for singing or for shredding up and down the fret board with his guitar. He was great because of his ability to make his listeners connect with his songs. Kurt Cobain, a music icon, is one of my favorite artists of all time. His unique personality and the mystery surrounding his death would make for an afternoon of interesting conversation. First I would like to write a song with Kurt Cobain. One of the obvious reasons for meeting him is that I would love to hear him sing and play. As an aspiring artist, I would also like to ask Cobain questions. I would like to talk with him about how he was able to convey his emotions so well through his songs. Cobain liked to include themes from society into his songs, and he used his music to expose problems that he saw and criticize the people responsible. In a line from Come as You Are, Cobain satirically comments on society’s gun......
