Outlook for Computer Support Specialist Within the Next 5-10 Years

...OUTLOOK FOR COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST WITHIN THE NEXT 5-10 YEARS Introduction Ever since I was a child I have always enjoyed working with computers and finding ways to solve problems. Whenever my family and I had computer problems we would hire computer specialists to fix our computers. Among those specialists was a busboy who worked at my family’s Thai restaurant; and on the side he operated a computer support store. Another specialist is a good friend of mine who works at Volkswagen as a computer support specialist; he has stopped by my house several times to retrieve corrupted files, reformat computers, in addition to adding more memory storage. I was always fascinated by his techniques. For example, he was able to fix my computer from his office while I was at home. Up until then I didn’t know that it was possible to view another person’s desktop from your own desktop. I am interested in becoming a computer support specialist also due to the fact that my parents’ Dearborn restaurant is still being operated in the old fashion way with a traditional cash register. The most irritating thing about operating a popular restaurant without advance technology is making mistakes on orders because they are hand written. In addition, calculating profit by hand is very tedious for the owner. In the past we have had employees steal money and throw away checks that were to be accounted by the end of the day. I feel that if my parents had the up to date advance technology......

...accomplish all I have accomplished thus far without the love and support of my sister, Sherree, my two brothers, Tavares and Gerrie, and my fantastic mother, Lillie. Like the head to most single parent households, my mother, a single mother, struggled on numerous occasions to make ends meet. But somehow, some way, she always seemed to find a way out of no way to make sure there was clothes on our backs and food on the table for us to eat. Of course there were times she had to let the lights or water get shut off just so she would have enough money to feed us. However, I, my sister and brothers did not let that stop us from aspiring to accomplish something in life. We all used our athletic abilities as a means to help us get where we aspired to be. Though I loved playing basketball, my favorite sport was running track. Stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, I am a Specialist (SPC) soldier in the United States Army. My military occupation specialty is 92Y, which is Unit Supply Specialist. I also attend college, majoring in Computer Information Systems. Although a lot of people have motivated me to attend college and further my education, I would have to say my cousin, Ricardo, is my biggest motivator. He is the best mentor a person could ask for. He is an employee at Defense Contract Management Agency as a GS-12, the youngest worker within his job series and grade. My cousin, Ricardo, did four years in the Army and majored in Computer Information Systems just like I am doing. I......

Peer Support

...BHS205 Lesson 8 Peer Support: The general term peer support has the same meaning in both mental health and substance abuse treatment. Peer support can be defined as the help and support that people with lived experience of a mental illness or a substance addiction are able to give to another. Recovery, whether from substance abuse or a mental illness, is a social process. Part of recovery is for the individual to reintegrate into the community and return to a normal social life. According to Mental Health America (MHA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), peer support is an essential element to the recovery process. People are often more willing to share their issues, concerns, hopes and dreams with a peer specialist than with clinical staff. Peer specialists have learned to recognize triggers and early warning signs, how to counteract the negative impact of stress and create plans to care for themselves. They are then able to pass these skills on to others who are in the position that they were once in themselves. Peer mental health support uses empathy and empowerment to help support and inspire an individual’s recovery. Peer support helps individuals suffering from mental illnesses feel less isolated and alone. A peer support specialist, for an individual with a mental illness, are often recovering from their own mental illness. This allows them to have a better understanding of what the individual they are helping is feeling and......
