The Blogging Styles Of Yours Truly
Part One Well hello all you wonderful people out there!!! Today I want to talk about critical thinking. I know, why Larina would you want to talk about this? Well it is easy. We have way too many hot heads out there that do not use this skill enough. We have people who have road rage and don’t think. We have those over protective momma bears out there that well… they just go off on the any big bad wolf who threatens their cubs. So lets get started! Well what is critical thinking? Critical thinking is that mode of thinking - about any subject, content, or problem - in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them. (2013) In layman’s terms it means we need to really think about what we are going to say or do or say.
What are some of the characteristics of a good critical thinker?
Well the first one I would like to talk about is Analytical skills . This is where you can analyze and have logical support for your arguments or beliefs. For example: Johnny down the street won’t come outside to play. Well I bet if you get Betty Lou to come out and wash the car Johnny will be sure to come out. See I looked at the problem and put a logical reason to it.
The second one I have for you all is communication and literacy skills. This one is where you can write, speak, hear, and be aware of communication. For example: Lets eat Grandpa. This should be Lets eat, Grandpa. See how funny that could have been.
The last one I have for you is Research and inquiry skills. This is where you gather up all the facts you can and ask questions. For example: I am wearing a green spacesuit. Well by looking at me you can tell I am…...

...Communications Paper Tamara Cordova HCS/490 February 26, 2013 Tina Folk-Cromartie Communications Paper The communication modality is Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The EMR provides benefits to the patients such as better communication with providers. EMR helps provide information quicker and making access to information more accessible. There are some issues with privacy, such as HIPAA privacy, but it is becoming fixed rapidly. EMR opens up opportunity for social networking and media opportunities. The EMR markets health care and the services available with broader audiences. In this paper these topics will be discussed. “Patient doctor communication (PDC) is most powerful, encompassing, and versatile instruments available to the physician” (Shachak & Reis, n.p. 2009). The benefits offer to the patient is helping to share better understanding between patients and the doctors. The EMR had “positive influence on exchange of medical information” (Shachak & Reis, n.p. 2009). EMR helps patients to feel confident in asking questions and feeling there was accomplishments at the end of his or her appointment. The patients can login online with his or her provider and have communications with the clinic. For example, make appointments, see health history, current medications, and ask questions. EMRs are beneficial to patients. One aspect relating to values and importance of maintaining patient confidentiality when using EMR communication is the aspect of......

...Communication Paper The mode of communication chosen is web-based forums which includes a virtual health care community. A health care community is provider sponsored information systems that provide various types of health care information over a website. Rosado (n.d.), A web portal supports the healthcare providers to improve the patient care and overall efficiency in the delivery of healthcare. Some goals of a web-based forum is to provide fast and secure exchange of health information for patients, providers, payers, pharmacies, and diagnostic centers. A benefit for the patients is the ability to schedules appointments online which would save time. The patients will have improved quality of care and access to health records anytime-anywhere. Patient health records would be readily accessible to physicians, hospitals, diagnostic centers, and for emergency needs. These web forums can provide patients with medical research for general questions or clarification for things like medication questions, product research, changing to healthier lifestyles or provide avenues of communication between physicians, patients, and peers. “The goal is to develop a more health-savvy population, not to prevent needed interactions with qualified clinicians.” (Butler III, Friel, Lang, Park, &Santello, 2000, p. 71). Web based forums are not intended to replace professional health care only to supplement or release some of the office clutter and provide guidance for patients. Digitize......

...Communication Paper Sara Cox HCS/490 November 4, 2013 Yvette Thompson Communication Paper The primary focus of any organization is communication. Each and every organization has struggles with areas of opportunity and with plans on how to improve communication. Communication is a cornerstone that when properly used drastically increases effectiveness. Electronic medical records (EMR) are still somewhat new to the medical field. But in time this will increase the effectiveness and speed in which healthcare providers communicate with each other. There are a variety of communication modalities available to health care consumers and health care providers. These modalities and venues of communication may entail benefits and challenges to both consumers and providers. The one communication modality that sticks out the most and that is used in health care is the Electronic Medical Records (EMR). According to "Benefits of EHRs" (2013), “an electronic medical record (EMR) is a digital version of a paper chart that contains all of a patient’s medical history from one practice. An EMR is mostly used by providers for diagnosis and treatment. An electronic medical record contains the standard medical and clinical data gathered in one provider’s office. Electronic health records (EHRs) go beyond the data collected in the provider’s office and include a more comprehensive patient history.” One benefit to patients is that they will not have to rely on their memory to remember......

Communication Paper

...Communication HCS/320 March 26, 2012 Tracey Collins Abstract Communication is used in different types of ways from verbal to nonverbal, and the way you express it is also a factor. We use communication everyday either at work or at home. Having proper skills in communication also makes a difference especially when working in a group. Communication Communication is a way to express one’s opinion and thoughts through talking, writing, hand gestures, and even body language. The purpose of communication is so that we can understand one another either as one or in a group. It can help strengthen relationships of any type, having understanding one another, to be understood, or even to get the job done. Here is a quote from a blog that I agree with and makes understanding communication better or from another perspective. “Communication is important in our lives. In a way, communications is something like breathing. You can't live very long without breathing and you cannot survive very long without communicating. Communication is the thread by which you tie yourself to the world and the world to you” (Better Interpersonal Communication, 2008). A good way of communicating could be to express your feelings or opinions when they arise, not leave them bottled up. I am terrible at that because I don’t want to offend anyone if I disagree with them or hurt others feelings; when in a professional atmosphere such as my job. If you are angry or upset about a situation address it......

...Communication Paper Jansen York University of Phoenix HCS 490 January 10, 2011 Communication Paper There are many different methods use in the health care world to help improve the communication between the healthcare providers and the patients they provide services to. There are different facility provided forums and health care information hotlines where patients can receive information with out seeing a provider but the most important new development in the health care related communication are the electronic medical record (EMR). Over the course of the paper I will discuss benefits to the patients, how important confidentiality is when using EMR’s, why EMR’s are an effective means of communication between the providers and patients, how this mode of communication differs from other methods, and how the media and social networking could change communication in health care. There are many benefits that the EMR bring to the table to help provider patient relationships. The most important one that comes to my mind is the fact with EMR providers that are having a hard time finding a possible diagnose to an issue is the ability to share patient history with other providers to find an answer. This is one of the greatest benefits to patient health the EMR can bring. One of the draw backs how ever with EMR is the availability of unrelated employees being able to access patient records. This is why it is extremely important to maintain the patient information in a chain...

Blog Paper

...The blog that I choose was one about the cyber defense for the blue team is what it is titled as. I like this blog because that is my ultimate goal and the career that I want to do after I have graduated from NOVA. I also have competed in the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) last year and want to again this coming year. Just thought this blog was helpful in getting some tips and maybe using it in the competition. The first part of the blog talks about capture the flag, which I am not really good at and need to practice that if I only want to get better at it. From my understanding of what capture the flag is gathering information or finding out what certain data is from a piece of information given to you. I think capture the flag is a great way of increasing your skills as an IT professional. Learning how to capture the flag can be somewhat difficult if you are trying to do it on your own. My suggestion would be to get with someone who is fairly good at it and work with that individual and get better at it. Also in a competition environment like the CCDC I would only have the strong individual working on capture the flag and get all of those knocked out real fast so you can get your points. The blog also talks about before you begin the competition and kind of list some guidelines to follow. I think that they are very helpful what was put out. It was things from who is going to be the team organizer, who is good at what operating systems, who are the strong......

...Communication Paper May 20, 2014 HCS/490 Health Care Consumer: Trends and Marketing Communication is define as the act of using words, signs, sounds and writing to relate a message from person to person. In healthcare communication is a cornerstone where everything else develops from whether it be from patient provider relationship to an emergency treatment to a patient. With advances in technology the way we communicate has change to a more technological aspect in this date in age. Communication between a patient and his or her provider has also change to make that communication easier as well as open on both sender and received. In this paper we will focus on the communication benefits in the use of e-mail from both provider and patient. It is not a surprise to see that technology has taken over all aspects of communication and with the lifestyle pastes of the population as well as it needs communication can sometimes be lost or strained. Just a few years back more and more providers have become open to the digital communication between themselves, other providers and patients. This openness to the digital communication has created an avenue to establish positive yet solid provider relationships and lines of communication. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs a digital communication modalities can be describe as a text message video message, and email based communication between providers and patients (Fortney, 2010). With a digital way of......

Blog Research Paper

...I observed a Subway sandwich restaurant on November 20, 2015 in Citrus Heights between the hours of 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. I choose this time because it represents the peak hours of operation and would provide me with the best possible data for this blog. The customer will be asked what kind of bread they would like and depending on the order, the bread may be toasted, which would increase the time. After the bread station, the vegetable station would be next, then the meats station, and finally the condiments and final wrapping. The process would finish with the cashier at the far end of the assembly line. As I entered the establishment, there was a small line in front of me with approximately 3-4 people in front of me. The four people ahead of me ordered a total of five sandwiches (one person ordered two) and took a total of 8:25 minutes. This translates to about 5 sandwiches / 8:25 minutes = 101 seconds (about 1:41 minutes per sandwich). I purposefully ordered a simple sandwich off the “number” menu and did not order a custom sandwich. I wanted to see how fast they can make the sandwich as a basis of measurement. As my turn came up, I placed my order and waited for the process to begin. It took me 1:20 minutes to order and pay for my basic sandwich. The problem really starts to arise when there are many people in line and breads that have to be toasted. Toasting bread takes about 45 seconds and adds a great amount time to overall process. All the orders were ordered from......

...Communication Tiffany Williams HCS 490 Health Care Consumer- Trends and Marketing January 9th, 2012 Tina Folk-Cromartie Communication Information system (IS) is a result in the arrangement of information, processes, people, and information technology (IT). Additionally, information systems support health organizations by the effect on the following: collection, process, storing, and providing as an output of information. Information technology is hardware and software working together along with data and telecommunication technology. Health care information systems (HCIS) are valuable in a health care setting because the information includes raw facts, and that information also helps facilitate the decision-making process. Before 1960s, physicians were to hand write medical information; fortunately, the early 1960s introduces a new form of record keeping. Electronic health record (EHR) should focus on the total health of a patient. EHRs simplify communication between patient and provider, and enable both to obtain health information quickly and effectively. Even though EHRs are full of advantages concerning patient-provider communication, EHRs also have disadvantages. The discussion of this paper will display how EHRs help patient and providers communication effectively. One benefit to the patient Electronic health record is a benefit to patients in many ways; for instance, EHRs empower patient to access his or her medical records electronically with security.......

Blog as a Form of Popular Communication

...Blog as a Form of Popular Communication In 2005 spring, a 16 years old boy from southern U.S. decided to tell his parents he was a gay and he did not take it well. Thus, his parents decided to send him to a Christian “straight camp” to get him back on the right path. He poured his emotions into a blog on his website which was accessible to the whole Internet. In his posting, he raised the idea of suicide and harming his parents and he wrote his emotional anguish about the camp, including a strict list of rules he would be living upon in next several weeks before leaving for the camp. Within one day, his postings began spreading among blogosphere, provoking a political demonstrating, a state investigation and international new coverage eventually (Tremayne, 2007). The impact of the experience on him remains unclear, but the whole event suggests that the power and dominance of blog in transmission of information and message are evidence comparing with the pre-blog era, in which his story unlikely spreads out further than the circle of his family and friends. According to Gunn and Brummett (2004), among communication studies scholars, “popular communication concerns the study of objects that are widely circulated by means of mass media” (p. 708). In early time, the most popular objects of analysis were radio, television, advertisements and films. However, along with the Internet matures and becomes essential in people’s daily life, new types of popular......

Communication Paper

...Communication Paper Communication within the healthcare field has changed into a vital field of study. It is worried about the roles that are powerful and performed by individuals and reconciled communication in the health care delivery. E-mail between healthcare workers and patients offer important for better communications. Connecting patients and healthcare workers through e-mail may raise the association of patients in supervising and documenting their own care and the process that may connect patients to their healthcare. Although, the federal government recommends regulation of telemedicine usage and medical software; these technologies are being sought under less examinations. When these are applied with substantial force though, they may mess up slight balances in the different relations. With the promise and consequences of electronic patient-physician communication before such technology becomes widely distributed. A research paper is projected that it would provide information that is useful for careful shaping of the communication set-up. This will outline the proper use of the patient confidentiality when sending e-mails. When a physician sends an e-mail it needs to be double checked to insure accuracy of who is receiving the e-mails. Health information is the knowledge shone from patient interviews and labatory test that is used to diagnose problems. Health information is collected up in check-ups that are used to measure the......

... Pamela S. Christiansen Communication Paper HCS/490 May 30, 2011 Abstract An electronic medical record also referred to as an (EMR) is a medical record that is turned into a computerized file that has been created by the medical facility that delivers care to its patients and/or patients. It can be created by a doctor’s office, surgery center, dental clinic or any office in the health field. Electronic medical records seem to be a more efficient and effective way of retrieving patients information that allows retrieval, storage and modifying of patients records so many can gain access and up to date information pertaining to the patients overall care and status. One of the major benefits of electronic medical records is that is saves time and makes the whole process more efficient and accurate. By being able to have all the patients information at the touch of a computer key makes it a quick record s transfer from one physician to another especially in a critical situation, or needing a different type of care from another physician in a particular field. Copying, faxing, and having to transfer and mail out patients records takes many man hours but also uses lots of office paper. Electronic medical records are cost efficient and saves times by being able to e-mail many recipients at one time. That in return......

This will also analyze that role of communitarian and personalities in negotiation and how they contributed or detracted from the negotiations. This will also help you have a better understanding of how the young people you are negotiating with communicate, and what personality best fits each of these individuals and will better prepare you as parent to produce a mutually successful long-term negotiation with a lasting and successful outcome. Parents can use negotiations as a tool to protect and educate their own children and other young people on their own usage on the internet and how they provide a safe environment for all users. Parents and teachers use negotiation strategies daily to protect children from the internet content that is not appropriate for all ages of children to view on the internet. Parents need to find the best way to negotiation with their children on the possible torment, threats, harassment, humiliation, and embarrassment that targets many children when they are using the internet, interactive and digital technologies or mobile phones.
