Turnover rate and Morale

The turnover rate has climbed to over 64 percent from the industry standard of 55 to 60 percent during the last 4 months. Managers and supervisors both agree that something has happened to morale but they do not know what. Exiting interviewers leave no new information as to why there is a decrease in morale and their answers are far too similar to infer anything about why the morale is low, and why there is a high turnover rate. The cost of constantly training new employees is quite troublesome for the company, which is why the consulting team is looking to reduce these expenses.

Hypothesis

In order to figure out the cause of BIMS high turnover rate and low morale, our consulting group hypothesizes that by using an employee survey as an instrument to collect data, the company would be able to address the underlying issues of the problem.

Purpose

The purpose of surveying the workers is to identify the root cause of the decrease in morale and high turnover rate. Due to these concerns, the concentration should be on improving employee motivation and at least keeping employee retention to industry standard. Also, this will help in reducing the cost of training new employees to fill the positions left by unsatisfied employees.

Research questions

The goal of these research questions is to find the reasons as to why there is a high turnover rate for BIMS. Analyzing the data given by the supported survey, we should be able to detect the pattern as to why there is a growing unhappiness with current employees and use it to understand why the past employees did leave the company. The research questions are mostly in the ordinal level of measurement and are quantitative in nature because they are given numerical values on a likert scale. Ballard Integrated Managed Services had asked that recommendations be made about needed information on the survey that will help in the research of the increase of employee turnover. The previous survey covered elements of the proper training, ethics, and demographics but it likes a few more elements. First the survey was given to active employees and not to employees that were leaving the job. Another element of information that needs to be included is safety, such as do the employees feel like the work environment is safe.
