Morales Masters of Science in Culinary Arts Philippine Women’s University September 2012 Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION “Green Restaurants” are restaurants that practice their food businesses operations without contributing to the harming of our environment. Basically, these restaurants must not support the use of harmful chemicals for their supplies, does not use equipment that use excessive energy, and must be waste efficient. The history of “Green Restaurants” started in New York, in the 1990’s era. When the scientific facts that indicate that the world needs new “Green” ways, some restaurateurs in New York started building their restaurants patterned with eco-friendly procedures. Some restaurants nowadays follow this trend, like Sonya’s Garden in Tagaytay and some restaurants in Manila. Global Warming changes the Earth’s chemical atmosphere. It creates a chemical imbalance that threatens the average temperature of the world. It may not sound too serious but a slight change in the temperature may create an ecosystem imbalance. A slight change in the temperature may cause rise in our sea levels because of the melting of the ice caps in Antarctica. With the progressing support to the new environmentalism and sustainability, the hospitality and tourism sector has joined the campaign. There is a trend in the Tourism industry called, Eco-Tourism which is getting economically stronger...

Research Paper

...used and conveyed with GPLv3 Code is subject to the terms of the GPLv3, and should not rely merely on the distinction between dynamically link linking and statically linking in making this determination. 3. How is "commercial FOSS" different from "commercial proprietary software"? What kinds of editions do software companies like Alfresco and SugarCRM offer? What license do these products use on the FOSS edition, and how do you think they generate revenue? Commercial FOSS - freedom to run the program for any purpose also, how the program works as well as modify it. Freedom to redistribute modified copies to others to help the community benefits. All these freedoms are preconditions to access the source codes. Commercial proprietary software - companies incorporate both open source and IP protected code into the final proprietary software they release to the market. Alfresco offers a business model similar to SugarCRM in that it uses a community edition (open source) as a loss leader. The primary difference being that the company uses a subscription based model, because the software deployment is over the cloud as SaaS. Alfresco uses LGPL which allows them to distribute their software without the need to release the code. SugarCRM adopted the GPLv3 license in 2007, which means the code is available to anyone. The Sugar application is available in five different editions, each with additional functionality. Sugar Community Edition is the base level......

Interpretation of an Existing Picture

... the first thing that came to my mind was how I could draw the front house view with a plan. The reason is the plan is a flat 2D view from the top of the house rather than from the front of the house. It shows not all the illustrations are the same even they represent the same subject matter. Due to the level of viewing, I started to look at the plan from the left to the right which can be entirely different when someone else looked at the same plan. However, not all the parts of the plan caught the same amount of the attention. The reason is the exercise is to draw the front view of the house. As a result, I spent a lot more time on the rooms and areas in the front. In contrast, I spent very little time on those areas like kitchen, alfresco etc in the rear as I did not believe they were required for this exercise. During the process of understanding the plan, I was constructing the relationships of all the graphic objects in my mind. For example, I was focus on the number of the rooms in the front, their orientation on the plan, the number of windows in each one of them, the front entrance and the verandah. It is a step by step process and take times and effort to complete. Once I had the overall idea of the house, I started to draw my front view of the house. I started from the left to the right with “Bath”, adding one room after another until it got to the “Grand Room”. Then, I started to draw the side of the house a bit to show there was a garage. In my opinion,......

They were have so many issues with technological communication that the only option was change! So change they made by implementing a single centralized IT group whose sole purpose was to bring the city-government out of the ashes. This of course meant saying farewell to the existing 14 management systems, saving costs in doing so anyway. The new system, the enterprise content management (ECM) system had to fill 3 major roles records, security, and finally communication. Relationship with God

...as the car cartwheeled off the road. All I did was shut my eyes. All the people in the car shouted and in the middle of all that was happening I said a silent prayer “God God, please save us”, as I shouted along oblivious to what was going on. In the blink of an eye, the cars wheels were airborne and it was now in a valley, ominously next to a stream. To fan the flames of an already healthy fire, the doors jammed as car fuel gushed from the tank thus filling the car with the smell which I quickly equated to death. It was mostly on the rear side where my brother was seated. It was devastating to watch my brother nearly drowning in car fuel as he screamed with a tormented look on his face. My father managed to smash the windscreen and once alfresco the car he jimmied one of the doors open. My mother, who had been unconscious and bleeding from the neck came to and quickly started hurling us out of the death-trap coming out last herself. We started to run from the burning car. Throngs of people had swarmed around and so they carried my siblings and I up the hill. Good Samaritans came and rushed us to the local hospital. Myriads of people’s lives in Uganda perish in car accidents. So for a moment, I pause to think about my situation: who was I to survive? , Why did my family survive this tragedy? When I delve into this further, I realize we are not guaranteed a long life and our lives can end without warning. The God I reached out to in my hour of need came to our rescue, the......
